Is it true that it covers 95% of the efc? because thats what i read on these forums.

What school is UT?

university of texas

I can’t imagine that is true. UT Austin? or a different campus?

Those people on the forums are WRONG. According to Collegeboard, UT meets 75% of need…and that’s distorted by the fact that most of its students are INSTATE with much lower COAs.

Since most of UT’s students are instate, UT can easily nearly meet those kids aid needs because costs are low for instate. For many instate kids, giving them a federal student loan and work-study meets most/all of their need…so that can give the false idea that UT is giving away tons of free grants…it’s not. Most of its grants are federal (like Pell) and state grants (for low-income instate students only).

A low income OOS student might only get a Pell Grant (about $5k) and a small loan. A middle class OOS student might only get a 5500 student loan.

Only 9% of UT’s students are OOS and many of them are on athletic scholarships or are affluent enough to pay full freight.

That 75% does NOT apply to OOS kids. UT and the state of Texas are not handing out a lot of money to OOS kids. They reserve most aid to instate kids.

Did you try the NPC calculator on the website? What is your EFC?
