There’s a very real possibility of getting your acceptance rescinded. McCombs requires Cal 1 and 2. Not only that, when I called the UT transcript evaluator, they said if you got any D’s, it may get rescinded…I was accepted as a transfer student in the Fall into McCombs btw.

You should contact the admissions office about this. Try to see if you may take it over the summer at your local community college to show your concern, how you want to learn from this situation, and make an effort to fix it. Your repeated knowledge of the second half of Calc BC, which varies by school but I assume is equivalent to Calc 2 in college, should prove your proficiency. Come up with alternatives to give them and address the issue head on so you may have a chance to recify it.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I had the chance to speak with an admissions counselor and basically I was told that the only way my application will be rescinded is if my rank drops substantially (which it won’t). So I have nothing to worry about?

That’s what I would have originally told you, but I didn’t want to give out misinformation just in case. You really just need to chill out, relax, and finish up this semester. The only way they would rescind is if something truly dramatic happened. You really think they have the time or resources to go through each accepted student’s final transcripts and scrutinize and analyze every single mediocre grade to determine whether they made a bad decision when they accepted you? No, not gonna happen.

Since calc 1 and 2 are part of McCombs “Core 4” classes you have to have done to get in at all, yeah, you might be in a trouble.

Business Indicator Courses

To be considered for admission, transfer applicants to the McCombs School of Business must submit official transcripts showing the following four business indicator courses:

Calculus I (Texas Common Course Numbers used by Texas community colleges: MATH 1325, 1425, 2313, 2413, 2417, or 2513)
Calculus II (Math 2314, 2414, or 2419)
Microeconomics (ECON 2302)
Macroeconomics (ECON 2301)

The OP was from a year ago and note that he/she was a high school student. McCombs does not require Calc 1 and 2 for incoming freshman students; they can take it during their 1st year at Texas. So, the responses to the OP are for only transfer students who wish to attend UT. There was misunderstanding from the beginning.

I just wanted to clarify so other HS students don’t read this thread and panic.

I believe students will be in trouble if they don’t fulfill graduation requirements. Failing English 4 or Government/Economics could be a problem.
Calculus is 12th grade means Algebra 1 was taken in 8th so 4 Math courses requirement still would be met even if you fail Calculus.

Yes, I am currently a high school senior so I am in the same position as the OP. Should I be stressing? This would not affect my graduation. It is a dual credit class at a local community college.

I’m currently in the same boat as OP/EnticingPlague, too! Except my grades aren’t as great…hehe. I looked through OP’s old posts though, and looks like he didn’t get rescinded, which is a huuuge wave of relief for me.

Community college credit has nothing to do with acceptance to UT but this COLLEGE class and credit has to be reported and will follow you the rest of your life. It will always be in your transcripts. I believe there is some kind of penalty if you try to hide it.
Ask about details, how it works, it is important.
