So i have applied to transfer to UT in for spring 2010. I graduated high school with 30 dual credit hours so I am eligible to apply. I am currently at UH and am taking 15 hours. My GPA from the DC courses is a 4.0. I sent 2 letters of rec and in my essays explained that i didnt like UH and some other medical reasons that prevented me from going there straight out of hs. I'm in phi theta kappa, deans list twice, and lots of extracurriculars. I hope to get into biomed. engineering but my second choice is biochem. (pre-med as well)

can anyone let me know what they think my chances?

and when does UT usually send out decisions for the spring?

With a 4.0 as a transfer, you should be fine. That is, fine for admission to UT. Admission to engineering will be harder, and I believe biomedical engineering is the hardest of all. I’m not familiar with the requirements for Cockrell, sorry. Biochemistry, you are in. Again, I don’t know the specifics but internal transfers are always easier if you want to try and transfer internally later.

Sabokke - there isn’t a really specific window. Admissions says most are typically notified in November, but on the phone they told me between now and Thanksgiving is really all they can say. It all depends on the colleges and how many applicants they have. I think with your stats you can easily get into UT, but biomed eng. is going to be very tight. Like Fiyero said, you can always transfer later, and you fortunately aren’t so overloaded on credits that you would lose time starting in one major and then transferring into another later.
