UT Transfer

Hi Y'all,

Can anyone tell me how easy/hard it is to transfer to UT after your freshman year? any Transfers out there? Whats the best way to go about doing it. I know theres a little to none chance of getting in first go around, just trying to get ideas

Kind of depends on your gpa, your essays, and what college you’re trying to transfer into…

As for ideas, I only have the one where you fill out the transfer application and submit it.

I transferred into UT my sophomore year. I was from out of state. At the time of my transfer, they were accepted about 1 in 6 applications for transfer students. I think the most important thing they look for is your GPA. But I had really strong letters of recommendations as well. So if you really want to go to UT Austin, I would suggest that you try to get strong letters of recommendation, as well as reflect your passion for a UT education in your essay. Also, it really really helps to have a strong GPA, because a lot of the transfer students are from the CAP program (where they spend a year at another UT school - San Antonio/Dallas, etc )or from Austin Community College, so you really have to stand out.
