Just wondering if anyone was going to Austin on President's Day, 2/15 for UT VIP day.

What is VIP day?

I guess it’s some sort of pre-orientation for “select admitted students” to meet with reps from your field, tour campus, etc. I mentioned it to a friend to see if her daughter wanted to ride to Austin with us and she didn’t get one. So I don’t really know who was “selected” – or why. It was just a little 3x5 card that came in the mail.

When I looked at all the events coming up over the next few months, my husband and I laughed and said it must be some sort of conspiracy UT has to try to improve the Austin economy by requiring parents to book hotel rooms! But I figure the more familiar my son gets with the campus, the better, and I’m looking forward to spending Valentine’s night out on the town with my hubby in Austin ;)

And P.S. to the Queen of Everything: I love your screen name! When I retired as Director of Marketing of a large corporation to be “just a mom,” I gave myself the new title of Director of Everything!

Well speaking of screen names windowbob, your name always confuses me because I read it as “window bob”. I’ve read your posts with the assumption that you were a man. I can’t see any other way to read it!

Well, it’s a long story. And really not worth repeating. But something I (and my son) will always remember (fondly). But you are right, I am not a man. Sorry if my screen name is deceiving. Never even thought about the gender deception thing :)

Hello there! This is my first post! :)

I plan to attend VIP day. I’m faxing my consent forms tomorrow so I hope they still have spots open. It seems like an interesting event, and I’m hoping to make some early friends while I’m there. :D

Once you submit your RSVP, they will send you an email with all kinds of information about everything that’s going on. And there’s a lot so I hope I can survive it all.

i am
It sounds cool, and I wonder, are we going to be able to sample the dining selections?

I’m going too! I wasn’t sure exactly how helpful or ‘exclusive’ the event was, but I’m really excited about going to UT, so I’ll visit any chance I can get =)

To anyone attending UT VIP today, welcome to UT!! I’m one of the student volunteers helping out with the event so if you see me (not sure if we’ll have name tags yet), be sure to tell me you’re on college confidential! Hope yall enjoy the day!
