So a friend got a really fancy invite in the mail (and an email) about the VIP event on March 3rd for selected admitted students. She got accepted like a week ago to the school of engineering. I haven't received anything; was accepted into Plan II/LAH and pre-journalism back in November. I went online tonight and the system let me register for the event. I can't find any specific information about the event--how exactly do they determine who gets invited? And, because I was able to register, am I therefore included in that? Or can anyone register?

I can’t find anything on the website indicating that Liberal Arts is actually participating in this.

Explore UT is an annual event primarily targeted at HS juniors and younger children. It’s a fun, crowded showcase of what UT is all about. Check out the website and the event programming, which you can filter by school and other interests.
Some departments will schedule an event for seniors who have applied and/or been accepted, e.g., the engineering “VIP” invitation mentioned above. Some won’t. If you haven’t received anything, give your department or honors program a call to see if they are holding any event for admitted/applying students.

While I think getting on campus any time you can is great, unless there’s a program specifically targeted at the program to which you’re applying or have been accepted, I would not consider this a “must do” day at all.
