UT Vs. Alabama; Please help!

I really like UT and I was accepted to its Communication program (RTF), which is no easy feat. I want to be a writer and work in the publishing or film industry. The flip side is Alabama, which gave me a scholarship that makes it roughly the same price as UT. I was accepted into the Honors College at UA, which means smaller classes, better dorms, etc. I thought the campus was cool at both colleges. UT is only 2 hours from where I currwntly live, while Alabama is farther away. So, Honors College or Top Communication School? Please give me some support.

In the film and writing industry there are only a handful of schools that actually matter. UT is one of them(a ut student was one of the scholarship recipients helping lead guests off the stage at the oscars, remember?). I highly, highly recommend Ut Austin. I suspect everyone else will too because this is a ut forum, but here is why:

It is a better school than Alabama acadmeically
For the industry you want to go into, Austin is one of the best cities on this earth to be pursuing that dream; no where else will a university (this cheap, since I suspect you are in state) fully support your career choice and at then same time be able to provide the resources and connections to really get you there (besides UCLA).
Austin > Tuscaloosa, always and forever. This is a personal thing, I don’t like rural areas.
This may sound pretentious, but the caliber of people you will meet at UT and Alabama won’t compare. There are many great students at Alabama, especially national merit scholars who get full rides there, but they are not nearly as diverse in talent and skills (not to mention ethnicity) as Austin’s community.

I agree with deregon1594.

College of Communication has Senior Fellows program if Honors matters so much.

Can you explain what you mean by “I want to be a writer and work in the publishing or film industry.”? What type of writing?

Publishing is not RTF, it’s PR/Advertising.
In College of Communication you can major in RTF and minor in PR/Advertising, it’s pretty common because there are much more money in commercials than in movies.

@Ya Ya

By writing, I mean along the lines of writing fiction or journalism; By publishing I mean working at a publishing house like Scholastic or Little, Brown, although advertising does mildly intrests me; I sort of want to try a TV/Movie job like producing or directing or screenwriting.

Journalism and RTF? This combination is usually for people who want to be TV reporters.

I am a little bit surprised you chose RTF, your main interests seem to be elsewhere.

COMMUNICATION COURSES: 6 hours outside your major.
During your first semester you need to take RTF 305, and you can also try classes outside your major – journalism or advertising.
PR/advertising site is messed up right now.

If it’s not what you want you need to look toward English major for writing. It’s really easy to double major if you have enough AP/IB credits. And since you were accepted to Honors at Alabama you probably have enough credits.

PS. In film industry screenwriters are usually the most “starving” people.
The 2 most interesting programs in RTF in my humble opinion are
