I'm an out-of-state senior and I wanted to know from people with scholarships if I could qualify for the Distinction Scholarship or at least the Achievement Scholarship. Which do you think I'll earn (if any)? Please be honest with my chances becasue I'm kinda putting all my hopes on going to UTD with a scholarship.
Race: Asian
ACT score: 30 composite (hoping for a 31 on my next try)
GPA: 4.2 (weighted)
Rank: Top 5% (17/340ish)
EC: Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, National Honors Society, Girls Minority Achievement Council, Amnesty International, Green Team, Spanish National Honor Society, Foreign Films
AP Credits: U.S History-4, English Literature and Composition-5, Psychology-5
High School schedule: AP Chem, Dual English 101 and 102, AP Govt, AP Econ, AP Human Geography, AP Calc AB

I'm also planning to apply in early November after taking the ACT again. Do you think this will affect my chances of earning a scholarship or should i go ahead with the score i have now? Thank you to those who (hopefully) reply!

I am a AES scholar (Academic Honors) and I think you could very well get a scholarship.
Based on your “stats” as of now I think you would probably get the Academic Distinction scholarship.

If you could raise your ACT a couple of points I think you could get the Academic Honors scholarship. (I am pretty sure they look at test scores the most and maybe GPA)

Just to give you an example to look at
I got a Academic Honors Scholarship with a 2230 SAT and 18/350 rank
A few people in my class with 2000ish SATs and 30is/350 rank got the Distinction award.

Thanks for the reply! I clicked on the link to view the SAT averages for students who recieved scholarships. For the Honors scholarship, is it possible to have a 5.187 gpa or is that a typo?

I, too, would appreciate some information as to the GPAs listed, as a 5.187 is impossible with a standard weighted GPA and even the other GPAs listed seem shockingly high for the corresponding SAT scores.

I agree that it could be a typo. The GPA difference between the Distinction and the Achievement is 0.147, and the difference between the Honors and the Distinction is 1.035… On the other hand, difference between SAT scores is 73 and 119 respectively. Doesn’t really make sense.
