Hi there,
My daughter is considering attending UT-Dallas in the public policy program. It seems like there are many internship and policy program opportunities there, as well as activities she would enjoy (Model UN competitions, debate clubs, etc).
Can anyone speak to the public policy BS? And/or the fast track Master’s options available for such a major? She has the top AES and will be coming in with dual credit and AP hours so the idea of getting started on a Masters while her AES is paying is very appealing.
Would also love to hear about the Archer program or any other opportunities for policy students, recruiting, outcomes etc.
Thanks so much!
Congratulations to your daughter on the AES award! Unfortunately, I do not know much about the public policy program. I did find this information about a fast track in EPPS https://www.utdallas.edu/epps/resources/advising.html#fast-track
I’ll ask my DD more about the Archer program because she did have 2 friends that did it last semester. She is out of touch right now in Peru, so I’ll try to get some information for you next week. Congrats again.
Thanks, I would appreciate that!
Spoke to my DD yesterday about the Archer program. Her 2 friends did enjoy it. The format for the program is working an internship and taking 3 night classes. She said her friends were responsible for finding the internship but that wasn’t a problem. One friend worked for the World Wildlife Foundation and she didn’t know where the other worked. She thought the kids paid what they would normally pay to UTD for a semester and the Archer program covered their living and schooling expense in Washington. Both thought it was worthwhile.
For PP go to a college with strong Public Policy faculty and peer group as it’s a discussion based major. May be to a small liberal arts college.
