UTEXAS McCombs Rejection

Rejected from McCombs due to too many credits.... (Their 90 credits policy)

Did anyone hear from UTEXAS?

too many credits can be a bad thing?

Most schools have a 65 limit, but if you take more, they can still reject you even if you plan on entering as a junior?

nope thats only true for UTEXAS...

I spoke to NYU, WashU, Berkeley, USC, UIUC, Cornell, Syracuse, BYU, Georgretown, Indiana..... none of them will penalize students for having too many credits ** AS LONG AS THEY ARE FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGE **

ouch, i have like 80 from a 4 year college

sorry about the rejection though

k1man. Do those 80 credits include the credits you are taking this Spring.

I don't think 80 will be a big deal... u will only loose like 16.

It actually depends upon ur reason for transfer.

Mine is actually a bit different case ... I will have 110 by the time i graduate from a community college.

Well I got into McCombs business school. Got the results day after surgery for appendicitis. That made me feel better ^_^.

What I had: 3.85 (including high school college courses)
3.9x (without the B from Intro to Art I took sophmore year of
high school)

Major: Business (undeclared)

Out of State Transfer
Community College

Essays: I guess they were strong, I had my parents look over it as well as my communication(youth leadership provider look at it). One basically stated why I chose the CC route and why I wanted to go to McCombs. The other was basically name dropping in a sense.

EC: 7 years with same Leadership group (became assistant Teacher after 3)
2 jobs (20 hrs a week 8 month stints)
Currently own my own business

Letter of Recs: Tennis Coach (known for 10 years + alumni of UT of Austin)
Communication Coach (VP for marketing CB Richard and Ellis)

So yea thats how I got in. Dunno if this helps in anyway. Just thought I would post a success story and how/why I got in that way other ppl can get an idea of what works.
