"New Ivies" in Newsweek:

Yay? I'm proud enough to be in the ACC.

Well, some people do call us the "Harvard of the South."

Even more lame...

haha. cavalier, you make me laugh!

If people want to call something the Harvard of the South they should probably refer to Duke or Rice

Or not make such a stupid comment in the first place.

If UVA is an Ivy, which Ivy would it be?

Does it matter? If UVA is a dog, which dog would it be?

If UVA is a type of alcohol, what type would it be? I vote bourbon whiskey

If UVA is one of the new Ivies, then isn't it time for College Confidential to revise its Top Forums listings? Right now, you have to click on Colleges and then search for UVA. If you click on "Ivy League", no UVA.

Charm, the term "new ivies" doesn't mean these schools have actually joined the Ivy League, they are not ivies for the same reason schools under the made up label of "public ivy" aren't ivies (UVA is considered a public ivy anyways, so it would have already been added to the list if the Ivy League list was going to reflect every arbitrary listing of schools that use the term ivy).

Oooh, sv3a, good comment. I think I'm bringing down a little bit o' that to start off the year.

UVa="Public ivy"

I vote champagne on the alcohol one....UVa's much more classy than whiskey.

You know nothing about UVA or whiskey, then. lol.

I believe that UVA is more like Cognac, but that's just me. If it were a dog, it would be an Australian Shephard. ;)

Cav, if that comment was stupid, my friend once called Virginia Tech the MIT of the South. I could not stop laughing after hearing that one.

Cognac? Ehhh...

As if UVa wasn't good before.....

i think uva is like apple juice with bourbon.

haha. Too true
