UVA and cars

Well aren't you cool! I bet you can pound, like, 3 zimas!

Awww, don't be sad just because I have rights you don't have. One day you can do what I do. When you're older! :)

If it helps, I don't trust anyone over the age of 21, pops.

I'm not a "pops" dude, I'm a woman. If you're going to bag on me at least get my package right.

pizzelle,

i don't know where you went before, but when you get to uva you'll be in for a rude awakening.

O-M-G You're a woman

Now it all makes sense.

I highly doubt that I'm going to encounter anything at the University that will surprise me. Only about 97% of my friends are college students. What do you expect, that my principles will suddenly change because I find out people are DRINKING UNDER 21 or SMOKING POT or OPERATING CARS AS FRESHMAN?

And yes...I'm a woman. Which is why I am automatically correct and you are automatically incorrect. Get used to it now.

Oh sh1t you just opened a whole 'nother can of worms...

thank god women to run the world is all i gotta say.

If I ran your world for just...a day it would totally blow your mind. You would probably kill yourself just from the trauma of realizing you've been living without me running your life all this time. That's how amazing I am.

it was only a matter of time before i brought you down to my level. and i tell you, I excel at my level ;-)

You know, I stayed away from this thread, because "UVA and Cars"? What do I know about the car situation living now in NY, but man, have I been missing out on your debate? ;) You guys never fail to entertain.

I understand what Plato wrote. I don't care whether you like Socrates or Aquinas or Kant or whoever. I am simply defining what the social contract is in terms of the United States' past and its relation to the underage drinking law. What makes you feel better about yourself inside is not relevant to the immutable history of how the United States created its laws and how those affect us today. Therefore, any use of the term 'social contract' outside how TJ and fellow founders defined it and then applying this 'social contract' to underage drinking laws is just plain wrong and is twisting the 'social contract' that exists in the U.S. (though not necessarily the world over). I don't know how much more objective you can get than that.

sv3a, I heart you, but obviously its not worth arguing anymore.

Yeah I'm kind of spent on the topic.

We disagree we disagree we disagree we disagree We DiSaGrEe WE DISAGREE WE DISAGREE

globalist - You're a better man than I am for not getting caught up in it. Watch for a "UVA and snack machines" debate coming your way soon. It will get very philosophical and very heated.

Ugh, it's not a matter of disagreeing. For all you know, I could be in the same line as your beliefs. It's a matter of history and context, not beliefs.

Yeah I get it. You don't think I understand the theory and how it can/cannot be applied to modern contexts. I GET IT. I think YOU are the one who doesn't get it. Ok? Get it? Want to go 320983 more rounds? Have some serious need to hear yourself type? Want to do this over the phone? Maybe in person in an auditorium with podiums and an audience?

Because...I don't. It was good while it lasted, now it's time to euthanize.

Pizzelle,

I just love the fact that you all can argue your points thoughtfully and intelligently - no matter what your stance. Believe me, you find less of that after you graduate and enter the "real" world. Reading everyone's comments was refreshing and entertaining...even funny. (Now, I need a drink!)

cav, that Poe quote made my day.

I actually am in the real world. I'm a plant from the Heritage Foundation to try and recruit young minds to the Conservative Mission by eradicating free thought, individuality, and minimizing the importance of individual rights.

OH GOD, did I just say that out loud?
