UVA Class of 2019 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

@london2va,I think you may be thinking of McIntire (Business) rather than Engineering, and you apply to McIntire in your 2nd year. My daughter was accepted EA this year. When she filled out her application, she had to select whether she was applying to CLAS, SEAS, Architecture, Nursing. She chose CLAS. Others chose Engineering. If you choose SEAS, you are in that school from the beginning. It is my understanding that it is not easy to transfer in because the curriculum is pretty much laid out from freshman year.

@london2va D’s letter did not have stats included in it.

Accepted… congrats to everyone else who got in! to those who didn’t, i’m sure you’ll have other great options - so keep your head up.

oos accepted
pretty excited, I would be 3/3 of my cousins to go to UVa

My D was just accepted! Very exciting!

@CSGoddess‌ Did you write the SEAS essay?

“U.Va. engineers are working to solve problems that affect people around the world, from our long-term water purification project in South Africa to continuing to research more efficient applications of solar power. However, most students start small, by using engineering to make a difference in daily life. If you were given funding for a small engineering project that would make your everyday life better, what would you do?”

Also, it is possible to transfer into SEAS before starting your fall semester, but you’ll have to talk to admissions to learn more about the details of that. Good luck! Even if you cannot switch schools immediately, you can still attempt it for your second year, or you can get a BA in CS through the CLAS.

I got accepted! :DD

Accepted OOS!! :slight_smile:

D1 is admitted. 3.82 uw, 2270, IS. Details in other thread tomorrow.

So does UVA. Your SIS portal will say which School you were accepted into. UVA has a computer engineering major which is in SEAS (School of Engineering and Applied Science), and a computer science major in CAS (College of Arts and Sciences).

@TV4caster‌ @CSGoddess‌
Just to clarify, SEAS offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) while CLAS offers a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science (BACS). See the differences here: http://libra.cs.virginia.edu/handbook/ugrad-handbook.pdf

Is it just me or is SIS portal down?

I am sorry, but does anybody else has problems with UVA website - it says they are having scheduled maintenance

Got in OOS! Asian 2270 SAT, 35 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA

Admitted.
International School in Asia
SAT I 2350 / 2 SAT II 760/800 / GPA UW 3.8

@Maximio the link is down but if you go to the UVA website and click on SIS you can get in. I got accepted OOS, but I guess no scholarships as there was no mention of any…I’m in the wrong region of the country for Jefferson. Not to sound ignorant but does this mean I’m out of luck on scholarships?

accepted OOS!! Asian, 2210 SAT, 95 avg

Admitted! International Student from Asia/ 2170/ 3.5 UW

honestly have no idea how I got into UVA, but i’m very thankful :slight_smile:

@TV4caster‌ @Fennekin‌ thanks! Yeah, I saw on my SIS page that my application was engineering undergrad and the decision was for that app. A bit to excited the first four times I looked to notice that. :wink:

@CSGoddess‌
Congratulations on getting into SEAS! I am a current BSCS student at U.Va; feel free to ask me any questions! If you can make it to U.Va today (March 21st), there’s an Engineering Open House from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM where you can network with students and faculty, as well as see some cool project showcases.
