@Fennekin I’m probably going to days on the lawn with a couple of my friends–can’t make it today, unfortunately.
Does anyone know how to sign up for days on the lawn?
I would like to know that too
I found out from an EA student that they will mail out info about days on the lawn
Has anyone been admitted to the Echols Scholar Program at UVA?
@vaboots Dean J says that accceptance to Echols will be released Monday
Did you have to apply to the Echols Scholar program? Or is everyone automatically considered?
@JalapenoGreens Thanks - I wasn’t sure if it came with the admissions notification or not. @stilchs4 All applicants are considered automatically.
@vaboots Great - does admission to the program come later, with the financial aid information? Or is it supposed to come with the decision (I was accepted, but haven’t heard anything about this program).
@stilchs4 - That is the question Jalapeno Greens answered for me. It comes later and according to JG, it will be Monday. Here is some more information: http://college.artsandsciences.virginia.edu/echols/admissions.
@vaboots So I’m assuming FA info will be out tomorrow too? Thanks for the link, this is really helpful!
According to FA, the FA awards will be out after the BOV meeting, around April 1.
Thanks!
How many people are invited to be Echols scholars? Is it top 10% of the accepted students, etc or what?
quick google search for your question was successful
http://college.artsandsciences.virginia.edu/echols/admissions
~6.5% of the class is echols
So if one of us is in the 6.6%…
I feel like they should determine echols after may 1st, because the people invited to echols might not necessarily commit to uva
So pumped got in out OOS 7/7 so far on college acceptances. What is echols scholars?? I was finalist for the Jefferson scholars and one round away from being named a Jefferson scholar so what is the echols scholars?
Just as with admission, we extend more invitations to scholars programs than the number that are actually in the program.
We offer Echols now so students can make a decision about coming to UVa with that in mind. Sometimes, those perks help a student make their decision.
my son got deferred and then rejected last year with a 3.99UW and 4.4 Weighted with tons of EC’s, 34 ACT and great recommendations and we were instate. He ended up at Wake Forest and could not be happier so take solace in knowing that UVA is not the only game in town
