Yes I do- do you think it means anything?
OMG please do not be getting my hopes up. hahaha. I don’t think it means anything because most schools require you to send in first semester grades.
On the topic of mid-year grades, do you think most decisions have been made and the main purpose of mid-year grades is to make a decision for those who are deferred?
I mean if only some people have it I feel like it’s a good sign. I’m not going to get my hopes up, but it seems like it either means deferred or accepted. Why would they want your mid-year grades if they reviewed your application and you were denied?
Does UVA release all EA decisions on the same day?
Ok, I know I’m annoying. One more question. I noticed last year’s decisions came out end of January. Decisions will probably be closer to mid-Feb given the pandemic and everything being slower this application year?
Yes
UVA has also received more applications this year which pushes back the decision date.
I wasn’t sure. If it comes out the same day it did last year, it would be next Thursday I’m pretty sure. Everywhere I read online it says mid February, however, it is BY mid February, so it could be released any time before then. I’m hoping for next week.
Yeah that’s true. I just thought everybody has it because most colleges require you to send in first semester grades and it automatically shows up on everyone’s portal in January. My stats are on the lower side so I would be very lucky to get in. Does anyone NOT have the request for mid-year grades?
You could be right but I definitely want to hear if people do not have it in their portal. I feel like they probably made most of their decisions by now, and there may be a reason for them to request those grades, whether it means deferred or accepted. Again, it could mean nothing and it could mean that they just want it from everyone. But, I’m guessing it will not be a deciding factor since there is about four weeks until mid February.
Based on my daughter and her middle-tier stats - I would guess it turns red for everyone…I like the idea that it means something special but my feeling is that it’s as simple as them wanting it from all applicants. There were quite a few mentions that they were going to release in mid-February for EA so it may just be one more piece of the puzzle for all applicants that they would like to see.
My sons portal has red x. I am a little confused, are they able to self report grades?
Mine has this too and I was going to as the same question about self reporting grades, but as I looked at the portal, I just saw this which answers both our questions “(Self-reported mid-year grades are acceptable. Submit a screen shot or PDF of your grade report by February 15th).”
Our transcripts don’t get sent until the end of January but our first semester report cards come out this week so I am going to have my son upload this to his portal as soon as they come out.
@madgraff26 Dean J has said several times that they are still planning on mid February. I don’t think mid January is a possibility at all.
We have the red x too.
I have the red X, and from what I’ve heard on other group chats it sounds like everyone does.
I have the spot for mid-year grades, but they accepted my report, so now it is a check!
Okay thank you.
You’re right! My D uploaded hers earlier and it now shows a check. That was quick. Some schools take days and days to update the portal status after docs are submitted.
