@LaVolpe I have not tried this thing before now, so I can’t speak to any changes that have happened.
As far as trying numbers, I tried 2-6 and all yielded the same waitlist message.
I’m not at all knowledgeable of CS, so I can’t validate this from a factual standpoint, but since it is yielding, acceptances, denials, and wait-lists…it looks VERY promising
@lowrancc Did you never do this before now? I posted this like a week or so ago, and wanted to see if anyone’s had changed.
Anyway, what happens when you do 3,4,5,6?
So do none of them send back to the original message of decisions not being available?
I had a theory that each DECN value is a decision from each reviewer. Not that I have any basis for which to think that, but mine sends back to “decisions unavailable” after 4. Seems as odd as the rest of this but meh.
This being the case, I’m just going to assume I figured it out.
@LaVolpe I misunderstood your theories in the past. I was looking in the actual source code as opposed to the URL. So no, I never changed the URL before now.
2-5 are wait list messages
starting at 6 I get the admissions unavailable until May 1, 2015
@lowrancc I’ll just assume that’s that then. Technically speaking, it shouldn’t be possible for that page to be parsing your decision like that, but it’s a shitty system so not that surprising to have holes like that. I wish there was a simple way to get the data from people but its a lot of trial and error to figure things out and I don’t feel like asking people to let me use their accounts.
Rejoice though people, I managed to get your decisions early for you and get declined at the same time. What a time to be alive amirite?
As fair warning to all getting rejection letters, there has not been anyone get no message at all when they do this. It could very easily be that the declination thing is default and not final. Don’t start losin’ your minds.
in that same vein, these decisions cannot be seen as final (they’re unformatted for a reason, folks) so if you find yourself with an acceptance letter and end up declined, don’t come lookin’ for me wanting answers. kthx
Edit: @lowrancc They posted pictures of their screens as well.
I just did the same thing with my roommate (he is applying as a second year transfer as well) and he got wait listed as well. So as long as @snp2896 and @UVAfan23 are telling the truth about their acceptance and rejection letters, this look very promising. There is no reason for it to yield different messages for different people with the SAME url if it didn’t mean something.
@LaVolpe maybe it’s not a final decision, your theory of it being decisions by different reviewers could be true. Also, I get the rejection letter with values 2-5 and then on value 6 it takes me back to the “come back may 1st” message. Why did this matter?
Hmmmm this sucks though, I wanna cry lol
I get in when I do this! 2 through 5 acceptance, 6 goes back to the default “decisions not available”. This does look promising and I’m hoping it’s right. Guess we’ll have to wait until May 1st to get rid of the lingering doubts though.
Well the reviewer theory is possible, but since for me, @UVAfan23 and @Sam998 we all get the same message for 2-5, it doesn’t seem plausible. You’d think that of the three of us with 4 reviewers each at least ONE of the reviewers would have made a decision different than that of the other reviewers.
@UVAfan23 Nah it’s always 2-5. No idea why, but it’s kind of moot.
The reviewer theory also seems unlikely to me because of the fact that I’m not a shoe-in for UVA by any means. I had a huge upward trend in high school and it’s the type of thing where I bet my app would be controversial. So I can imagine getting in but I doubt it’d be a unanimous decision among three reviewers unless they’re really prone to consensus building.
Yea I tried other numbers and it’s either “come back may” or “congrats”
@snp2896 @lowrancc @Sam998 If one of you could tell me your ID number I could figure this out like literally right now.
Should just be a few numbers. Mine is 2573610, so yours would presumably also be 7 digits.
How would you do that @LaVolpe ?
Tell me what happens when you check that link and I’ll let ya know
you mean just when I click it? Just clicking it pulls up congrats again
I got a congrats letter when i clicked your link
@Sam998 And the link stays like that in the url?
Welp nevermind. I found in the code that the original link to the referrer url include individual EMPLID 's. The idea was then if you checked that link with my ID in there, you’d see a declination.
But if that doesn’t change what you see then that’s rather confusing.
so what does all this mean
