@LaVolpe So you got your decision on a Monday?
Is it more difficult for out of state students to get accepted?
@206fall2016 yes friend
What is the acceptance rate for out of state transfers?
@206fall2016 Like 24% or something.
You can find boatloads of UVA admission info dating back for years on this website
http://avillage.web.virginia (dot) edu/iaas/instreports/studat/admission.shtm
What stats do out of state students need to get accepted?
It all varies. I know of a couple of out of state students that got in with a 3.4 or 3.5’s. They take into account your entire record, but since it is a state school it will require more in-state students to meet the quota. Not saying you don’t have a chance. My friend got in out of state with a 3.7, and is currently at UVA.
I have a 3.85 in highschool. 4.0 in community college that I was dual enrolled in during high school. A 3.57 at a top 15 liberal arts college. A 33 on the ACT. I’m currently a freshman. Do I have a good chance?
@206fall2016 you have a really really high chance ! Do you have a check
Finally got my check!!
Just got my check mark
Currently a Freshman at Elon University (I am out of state, unfortunately)
Major : Biology
GPA: 3.65

EC: Played D1 football for a year at Elon until I decided I wanted to focus primarily on school since football took an enormous of time out of school. Academic All-Conference while at Elon. Coached Special Olympics basketball for four years and was a counselor at a special needs summer camp. Volunteered for Sen. Thom Tillis during his campaign last year. Worked at a food kitchen. HS male athlete of the year, received two awards for service to children. Also awarded Guilford County Special Olympics Coach of the Year. Dean’s List.
High School: Not sure UW GPA…AP Latin, AP Chem, AP Psychology, AP English
Hoping it works out for everyone!
@Edu_rms I don’t have the check. It could be because the admissions office was having problems finding my transcript and they didn’t find it until the first week of April.
Had my phone interview this past week-- I think it went quite well! Was very helpful hearing about the transfer experience from a successful transfer student; despite everything you can read online, there isn’t anything better than firsthand (or in this case, secondhand) experience.
Still waiting on my checkmark, but as a McIntire applicant I believe they are taking more time to evaluate fit for their applicants.
Still haven’t got the check and am never contacted by the office for any missing file. Is UVA transfer admission more competitive than Vandy’s though?
where is this check mark that everyone is talking about?
@boggsgroup6 I believe it is at the bottom of your SIS page, under the Admissions tab. Supposedly it replaces the green dot that indicates your application is completed.
What do you guys think the chances are we get our admissions decisions on the 29th? I feel like that date makes more sense, since it is a Friday and because the current date admissions are scheduled to be released is on a Sunday…
As much as we can read into arbitrary figures or trends from the past, May 1st is posted as a tentative date on the UVA website. Hopefully we’ll be getting our decisions on Friday-- that way I’ll know whether I will be drinking for celebration or for comfort over the weekend
Last year they came out on the 9th. @gabriel609 @uctransfer2016
