UVA Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@lowrancc personally for me, I read the specific forms I had to fill out and no where on them did it mention missing information or filling out a form incorrectly. They were both some type of authorization/certification of financial aid use.

Who here is a VCCS student? Just curious.

@pethomas96 Yea that is one of the forms you should have mailed to UVA by April 1

@lowrancc student financial services stated the due date was not until May 15th and it was a certification to accept financial aid for 2016-2017. Perhaps you are correct, but being as that this is the second time I’ve filled out the FASFA for UVA and multiple institutions and have never had to fill these forms out before, I am just as puzzled.

@pethomas96 Does the certification form look like this?

http://sfs.virginia.edu/sites/sfs.virginia.edu/files/FA%20Application%20Certification%20Form%2016-17.pdf

All I literally did was fill out my FAFSA forms and my CSS profile (1 month past the deadline lol. I was very late)

@pethomas96 when you say you mailed financial aid forms, you actually mailed these forms? Because everything I filled out was online (fafsa and CSS) so I’m a bit confused.

And also the only reason I believe getting asked for financial aid to-dos is significant of an acceptance is because if you read last years transfer thread, the majority of the accepted students had to-dos prior to decisions being released. Granted, a good portion never commented back on the thread after decisions came out. But I still believe fisnncial aid to-dos is linked to acceptance.

Side note: not trying to get people’s hopes up, just theorizing lol.

@lowrancc nope! Who knows what any of this really means!
@UVAfan23 no, I scanned them & uploaded them
to my SIS account!

@UVAfan23 You don’t have to physically mail them. They could be faxed, mailed, or scanned and emailed (this is what I did)

@pethomas96 That is directly off of the Financial Services website under the documents needed by the deadline.

I could be wrong, but I think so many have the to-do’s because there are so many parts of the FA application that aren’t super obvious. I did the FAFSA (which I think is what most would assume the application would be) but didn’t even hear about the CSS until about 2 weeks before it was do. On top of the CSS online thing, there are even more PDF files that must be found on Fin Service’s website and submitted along with a lot of tax documents.

My guess is that many simply didn’t do all of the needed steps to actually finalize all the facets of the FA application. This would be supported by @pethomas96’s affirmation that the form he has under the “to-do” is the one at the link I posted

EDIT: Hmmm. Well then who knows…this is really weird.

I just got the checkmark and the view decision. When I click on the view decision, I didn’t get a congratulations or anything similar that other people have gotten. It said admission decisions are not available at this time. On the tab, it says “Accept Admission” What does this mean? Did I get accepted?

@206fall2016 No unfortunately not everyones tab says the same thing.

@DannyCareyisGod What do other people’s tabs say?

@206fall2016 It means you have to wait until decisions are released (we’re guessing this Friday or this Sunday). What the other folks were talking about was a break in the system that allowed people to access their decisions fairly easily. That break has since been patched, so you’ll have to wait to see your decision. The “Accept Admission” on the tab doesn’t mean anything, it’s the default. Anyway, good luck.

@206fall2016 Everyone’s tab says the same thing once they get the check-mark.

Oh and @DannyCareyisGod I’m a VCCS student (nova)

@lowrancc so I guess they didn’t need me to mail or fax anything Bc I’m not one of the few accepted lol. I honesty never mailed anything, or uploaded anything. Like I said, I simply filled my fafsa (as independent student) and my CSS profile and that’s it. Did you email your forms until AFTER they asked you (or appeared on your to-dos?)

The results of the financial aid to-dos and the earlier technique are not lining up. I’m partial to @lowrancc 's thinking that the to-dos aren’t predictive but that might just be confirmation bias because the earlier technique gave me an admit letter. What do you guys think?

Just to throw this in, I was really confused by all the tax stuff also with Financial Services, so just to be on the safe side I called them in late February (before applications were even due) to ensure they had everything they would need for evaluation and they said I was fine. I had only submitted the FAFSA and CSS Profile.

@UVAfan23 Yeah I knew you were and I think one other person said there were as well. I only know of 2 people who applied from my school so I wondering where all the other VCCS applicants are coming from. According to their FAQs and when I toured on transfer day they take about 250 VCCS students.

@UVAfan23 I never received any to-do’s because I mailed all of the required forms by the April 1 deadline listed on the Financial Services website.

@BlueandGold123 Well that’s odd…it says that they need tax forms and a few other PDF’s that are available on the Fin Services website. Perhaps these extra forms are only supplementary and they do not actually NEED them.

@DannyCareyisGod hmmm the numbers for admitted transfers seem a bit off. I heard they mostly admit VCCS transfers. I wanna say 60% transfers and 40% 4-year school transfers. But I could be wrong.

@lowrancc but these forms…where did you find them? I just feel like if I’m admitted then I’ll send them. Otherwise, I don’t see why I would send them financial aid info. Ugh the fisnncial aid aspect of it all is so confusing lol.
