UVA Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

Anyone know what time decisions will be released Friday? (Eastern time)

@acceptancewoohoo https://ias.virginia.edu/university-stats-facts/undergraduate-admissions → detailed → transfer → CAS → residency → gender/race.

@pok24647 Yes, but the acceptance rate for freshman transfers doesn’t change, so I’m assuming it doesn’t inflate it too much.

@redgolden173 Historically 4:30pm est. They close at 4.

@benzgirl714 Nope, still “inquiry access denied” and “Award access not available.”

@benzgirl714 if it makes you feel any better, my son is a student and he has that message as well. I called and apparently its a common message when it hasn’t been processed

@Collegehelp4us What message? I’m confused.

Hi, I’m waiting to hear back from admissions in the hopes of being a third year transfer in the fall. I’m currently a student at Old Dominion University, and my reasons for wanting to transfer are simple: I want to become an attorney and attend a reputable law school, therefore I need to be studying curriculum that will better prepare me for my future endeavors. Right now I’m majoring in economics, but I’m aware that my major is extremely tough to transfer into and therefore am prepared to change it if necessary. Also, I applied to the College of Arts & Sciences. My current cumulative GPA is a 3.51, and by the end of the semester I’m hoping it’ll be a 3.6. After this semester I will have completed 54 credit hours. The only classes I do not have are in foreign language. I’m a vice president of my sorority (which I would continue at UVA if I get in) and I nanny Monday-Friday for a UVA alum family of five. I have three academic letters of recommendation, as well as three alumni letters of recommendation. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted? If you have any other questions for me that’ll better help you answer this accurately, feel free to ask! I just found this thread and the wait is killing me- just like I’m sure it’s killing all of you too! Hoping someone can give me clarification and ease my mind for the next few days.

@uva20hopefully Only 3 days left! You can make it, don’t worry about chancing now!

@benzgirl714 my View Financial Aid and Accept/Decline Awards have changed to a screen with my name on the top and a section where the financial information will be if I get accepted

Inquiry access denied

@uva20hopefully almost there hang in there . Good luck!

@mualphabot Okay, mine say the same. Just wondering if anyone’s looks different.

@uvatransfer123 Does the section you mean say “Aid Year 2019”?

@Collegehelp4us So he is currently a student at UVA and has that message? Hmm…

Jk let me not get my hopes up

Also just to ask for clarification cause y’all are stressing me a bit, i wouldn’t have any of these things if i didn’t apply for aid?

@benzgirl714 it doesn’t show a year only “Select Aid Year to View”

My financial aid page says “no financial aid found” I was really nervous about that, so I asked my friend who goes to UVA about it. His page says the same thing even though he is on financial aid. I don’t think that this means anything about our decisions!

Lol, guys don’t make people nervous with financial aid thing, I am 95% positive that those are not signs of acceptance. First of all, Financial Aid office and Admission office are working separately(Dean J post). Second, I had those “Inquiry accessed denied and view financial aid year” one month ago and then it disappeared (I sent ALL documents at the same time). So those messages probably mean that your financial aid is currently under review (If you sent any documents recently it kind of confirms my theory).

i Guess my point is it could mean anything. The person I spoke to was like yeah I don’t know why it says that but justmeana your paperwork is still in process. They won’t even look at it until after freshman stifffs done which could also mean transfer aid may not come out right away either

@machlan The fact that your friend doesn’t have it makes sense. They have to tell us what our financial aid is before the day we decide, but your friend already goes there, so there isn’t a rush.

@Niaxe42 I agree that they work separately, but I don’t follow how those messages don’t mean anything. It wouldn’t make sense for FA to request documentation the week of decisions for a student who was denied. On top of that, the fact that there is a clear divide for students here means it has some meaning.

Then again, I think the only thing relevant for us at this point is Friday or Monday. In fact, worrying at this point about it is not worth it, good luck everyone!

Well, I just went to last years thread and found two examples of people who had the same financial aid “inquiry denied” instead of nothing there that were accepted.

I also found two examples of people who DIDN’T get a change and they were both denied… I don’t have a change and never did at all so not looking good…

Good luck to us then, I guess
