Wouldn’t it make sense, if classes didn’t report on a GPA basis, but a percent basis?
So if you have 88%, then you get 88/100. That would be way more accurate, because you could see who is just barely getting by with A’s vs. students that have high A’s.
@NOVAtransfer hearing that is so important rn omg thank u
@CTUR782 right?! its the most annoying thing in the world, your stats sound good though and if u have good essays and other stuff i wouldn’t fret!
@Vincent1997 i wish they did this lolol it would make so much more sense. it drives me crazy and sends my nerves through the roof because everyones talking bout 4.0 gpas and they’re worried about getting denied so that helps nothing either. I just hope uva sees the grading scale for each school and takes it into account. UGH just hope my midterm report could help make a decision too
@CTUR782 yo rescinding applications is reserved for extremes like if you submitted a 3.9 from last semester and suddenly you got all D’s or some F’s. A 3.5 GPA is still within UVA’s average GPA. You’ll be alright! You are obviously a bright student. If accepted, a C won’t shatter your chances. I believe in you!
This thread becomes more and more active every day. I bet we’re reaching group chat reply speed by 5pm Friday lol
Yup. Friday 5PM can’t come soon enough…
@NOVAtransfer True.
2 more sleeps until decisions
@NOVAtransfer unless we aren’t lucky.
@NOVAtransfer Thanks mate, hopefully we get in. It’s just annoying being at an 88% because I feel like I’m hanging from a thread. So close to an A, but I know it shouldn’t kill my chances.
wait let me conform… they see both grades and gpa right? or do they just see gpa…
Grades and GPA, when you send your transcript they see each individual class
You people need to seriously take off your tinfoil hats. If the Dean said she is still reviewing apps last minute, she probably is. Most of the people in here have no jurisdiction and are doing crazy just because they don’t see a financial add on their to do list. Think about how ridiculous that sounds. If you get notified of it good, if you don’t no worries. You should be chancing yourself based off your stats, not some notification. If you don’t have at least a 3.5 as a junior, you aren’t getting in. If you’re a sophomore and have less than a 3.8, chances are low. Only exception to this is SAT scores and HS grades, meaning they can help you if they’re high. So everyone relax and if you want a better sense of the types of students admitted every year, go look at past threads. You should find content of up till 2011.
No offense but a 3.2 GPA at an out of state community college is not going to fare well for you come admission time. You mentioned bad grades in high school, so those won’t help you either. Even if you attended an in state community college, 3.2 is way too low for UVA. Not to mention you’re applying after only one year, in which they expect higher grades from you since you’re taking easier first year classes presumably.
You do realize he’s applying after only one year right? A C will totally kill your chances considering he’s also out of state with a 3.2 and a less impressive high school record
Wild to say considering we debunked the 3.8 thing. Don’t spread FUD.
My first semester GPA is around 3.87, and my midterm GPA is 4.0. My high school UW GPA is 4.0. I’m applying Engineering College, but I’m from OOS. (My sat is in the range of 50% for uva, but it’s not very impressive tho). What will be my chances? I know it’s very hard for OOS applicant to get in.
Gook Luck everyone btw!!
You didn’t debunk a cow’s manure. I’ve just told you that without strong high school grades or a high sat, you need at least a 3.8 GPA. If you want to point out the disparity go ahead, that’s not my job since you’re the challenger of my claim. In fact this isn’t even my claim. Someone from 2016 Fall who got accepted stated this on the thread and it hasn’t disappointed yet. I don’t like to sugar coat anything and if me spreading truth involves FUD, that’s too bad. You shouldn’t come to a public forum or better yet the internet if you’re afraid of someone’s feelings getting hurt.
Even though you’re OOS, you have an excellent chance. I’d be excited come Friday if I were you!
