UVA Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

On a general note, I hope that nobody felt discouraged from any posts on here. Nobody here can give a definite opinion of who will get in and who won’t. You all know yourself better than any of us could. I think mostly everyone on here understands the basic admission criteria: the main things are Completion of prerequisites, GPA, Residence and Recommendations/Essays. Those are the things that the average college applicant should worry about.

@CTUR782 Just trying to finish my English analysis lol

Is there anyone that DOESN’T see the “inquiry access denied” thing for the 2019 aid year? I am the last person to believe in stuff like this. I hate conspiracy theories. I love data (shouts to Dean J for providing those tables, which I’ve been studying closely). But this theory is starting to look a little more valid because I still have 3 items on my Financial Aid to do (they say due May 12), and pressing “view financial aid” has always turned up a generic error page. The last time I checked this FA link and got the general error was last week and my file was definitely in that last batch of files that Transfermer said they were reading (my file wasn’t complete until last week). Today, without me taking any actions on my financial aid to do list, my financial aid page shows a table that says “Aid year: 2019. Institution: University of Virginia. Aid Year Description: Inquiry access denied”

I won’t take this speculation any further unless someone can show that they completed their admission to do list a long time ago, and to this day they do not see this financial aid page. And someone else can show that they completed their file and DID see the same table.

Either way, doesn’t really matter anymore. We’ll know for sure tomorrow (or Tuesday, worst case).

@NOVAtransfer I had all of my app complete including my FA checklist in Early March (Submitted Feb). I have none of these changes at all. When I go to “view my financial aid” or “accept/decline awards,” I have NOTHING.

I was looking at the transfer blog’s archives, and decisions have been released the last Friday of April since 2009.
I don’t really know why I’m posting this, guess i just wanted to throw some encouragement y’alls way (even if it’s delusional hahahaha). Roughly 30 hours to go homies!!! Don’t life get you down; turn that frown upside down

@NOVAtransfer Can you tell us what kind of documents are on your to do list? Just like @msport I sent all my FA documents in one go including stuff like parents W-2, so I don’t have “Inquiry access denied” right now, BUT I used to have it when they were reviewing my application (They asked me to send green card info for second time). I’ve seen here that people who didn’t sent parent’s W-2 had it on their to do list later and their due date was May 12.

However, I do think that it is a always positive test, I checked 2016 transfer thread and people with inquiry access denied were accepted.

Does anybody have a UVA email address?

@Niaxe42 I actually was never asked to submit W-2’s or Parent Tax Returns by UVA. On the CSS profile it shows UVA was requesting them but I emailed UVA SFS and they told me they didn’t need any additional documents from me. Do you think that’s a bad sign? I don’t think UVA takes things from IDOC on CSS, which is where I uploaded all of that stuff.

I’ve never had a financial aid update on my SIS at all…

@msport I’m sure the reason they haven’t put anything on your to-do list is because you’ve already submitted everything they were asking for.

Is having nothing on your to-do list bad? Pretty sure I just sent EVERYTHING in. Most didn’t see the 2nd part of the financial aid process

What 2nd part @jmh77777

@benzgirl714 the only reason i’m concerned is because I didn’t actually send the w-2’s/tax returns to UVA myself, which is what it seems they end up requesting (as they did with you). i only submitted the fafsa and the CSS profile, an then was told by them they don’t need anything and would contact me if they needed more.

@jmh77777 it’s not bad, but if you look at previous threads, everyone who got a financial aid change like the few people on this thread got accepted. there’s no evidence of someone who got the changes getting rejected. as someone said earlier, it’s a true positive test, can only test one outcome, not the rejection

It usually wasn’t even the “inquiry access denied”, in the past thread all those that received request for additional documents in April (W2, FA, 1040) have been accepted. Both independent and dependent students
Again, as people have said, there have been admissions of people withou these document requests

Yeah, I think most people just want to relax (including myself), but because time is so short we get distracted and speculative.

Good luck everyone!

Good luck everyone! Just a few more hours! Remember to come back to CC and tell us what decision you saw. Might be helpful to future applicants, and we’ve all been stressing together for months so might as well share.

@NOVAtransfer doesn’t it come out tomorrow?

@Niaxe42 Lol were you trying to reply? I couldn’t view your reply because it got removed but what were you trying to say?

@mualphabot yeah, decisions are def not coming out sooner than tomorrow evening, I think novatransfer just was speaking in relative terms (~28 hours away, no longer counting by days)

@CTUR78 Lol it wasn’t very nice, I don’t think you want him to repeat it

I’m just curious, is everybody able to order their transcript through the SIS portal (i got up until the address info, then just stopped)?
