Yes and it still is actually. I messed up and submitted my final grades too late and they didn’t even have a midterm report to review for my file. They judged me off one semester and still wait listed me. I’ve gotten a 4.0 again and have a lot of credits 40+ with APs. I’m sure I’ll get off it with perfect grades. It’s not a magic number if you aren’t taking the right classes either. Me applying to CAS also with a 65% acceptance rate last year also increases ones chances. It’s not a magic number, it increases your chances by a lot and I’m sticking by my word. Most people with high GPAs got off the waitlist and were accepted
. I was accepted to William and Mary FYI with a 4.0 and only one semester of grades to show and a mid term report. Only reason I got the wait list for UVA was because my final grades never arrived for some reason. I’m sure I’ll get off this one too. So yes I stick by my 4.0 theory. It’s not too accurate either because I am in nvcc and in state so I am favored so I don’t truly know
I was applying to Mcintire and didn’t really check my application until today. I was accepted but when I login into my SIS account it says Arts & Sciences Undergraduate. Is it how it supposed to be? I’m from NOVA in state CC. 4.0 GPA. 1590 sat. white hispanic female.
Was waitlisted by Vandy but accepted to W&M and CAS or Mcintire today. I’m confused. If it’s CAS I’ll have to wait for private schools letters. I want Mcintire only
Applied for CAS – Economics. 3.5 HS GPA, 6 AP courses. OOS CC with 3.8 GPA, and completed Stats, Calc 1, Macro, and Microecon. Really thought having the pre-requisites down would help me standout. Oh well, congrats to those who got in.

You would have to have a major declared. You could apply in January for commerce but you would have to stay an extra year. I don’t know if you need special permission but I remember them sying at an info session that you could do it… Your other option is to graduate on time then do a 1 year Masters in COmmerce offered to non business majors. Declare a major and work toward completing that on time. Do you have all the Mcinitire requirements? You need to have them all completed by next May in order to even be considered for Mcintire. (foreign language they will llow you to complete next summer if you don’t have it all done) Best to talk to an adviser. I found the Mcintire office to be very helpful when my son was transferring in last year.

So if I am willing to spend an extra year at Uva and graduate a year late, I would still be able to get into Mcintire for next Fall 2019. Am I right?? Again, thank you so much for such awesome help! Yes I believe it is allowed but definitely clarify to see if you need permission. Look through the Mcintire blog lots of good information. And look at the credit analyzer to see what transfers

I was also waitlisted from CAS with a 4.0 GPA from NVCC. I submitted my final grades around April, but I was still wait listed. Does that mean they did not get a chance to review my 2nd semester grades? I remember Dean J telling me on the blog that it could possibly be too late to review. I’m guessing I already answered my own question. I mean why else would I get waitlisted and then ask me for final transcript on the letter? Hopeful on making it out of the wait list as I have a 4.0 for this semester too.
@uvahopeful6014 to answer your last question, they want to see if your grades keep up. Its a common process and it is done in many other schools even when they review your midterm grades (USC for instance sends loads of applicants a spring term request without even making decisions, even after the applicant has sent a midterm report)
Also, you should call a fool somebody else. You came on this forum a couple of days ago telling people they couldn’t get accepted and that anybody with a 4.0 instate was practically accepted. Extracurriculars were useless, the process wasn’t as holistic as other posters believed and for you it was practically all about the grades. While you’re waitlisted, I was accepted without a 4.0, without a midterm submitted, with terrible HS grades, OOS, but had many extracurriculars and am very active.
What you said most of the time wasn’t wrong, and I agree with you on certain things, but the way you went around it was, to me, unacceptable. I’m the last person to ask for a sensitive or “trigger-less” community, since I believe is it a bunch of B*S, but that does’t excuse you from being civil in discussion.
No I already know why they wanted my final grades. I thought I already sent it to them because my classes ended early, but it looks like they couldn’t review my grades in time. I looked at your stats and you were awfully close to a 4.0 with fantastic test scores from a credited university. I actually would’ve predicted an acceptance so no need to be condescending to me and twist my words. I was accepted to W&M with my “magic” 4.0 as you like to call it which is actually just as or more competitive than UVA. So my theory has some legitimacy. I just feel I got waitlisted because they had no idea how my 2nd semester went. I understand it’s holistic but my only point was that GPA is a great predictor and most perfect grades tend to get in. I exaggerated a little but precedence suggested so. Hoping to get off the waitlist by submitting my grades. Congrats

It looks like some of my stats are lower than some of the people who got rejected. It makes me think that perhaps their essays were subpar or something. I also go to the community college in Charlottesville, which may have helped. I’m curious about whether there’s some form of Affirmative Action on LGBT individuals in enrollment.
