UVA Regular Decision - DISCUSSION - Class of 2023

Actually, if you look closely the yield was steady until 2006 when it started dropping from 52% (overall) to the 39% number referred to now. Guess what happened in 2006…
UVA dropped ED, so an expected decrease is inevitable without the nearly 100% yield of a binding decision.
More important are the following numbers from 2007-2018:
Total applicants -17,800 to 37,180 (over 40,800 this year)
IS acceptance rate - 47% to 38%
OOS acceptance rate - 27% to 21%
IS yield - 67% to 58%
OOS yield - 34% to 24%
The option of ED existed at UVA from 1990 - 2006, but the University felt it was a barrier to lower income qualified applicants that perceived it as an option for wealthier families.
Also note, with this year’s 10% overall and 17% EA increase in the applicant pool the 2018 acceptance results will probably drop another 2%.

Meant “2019 acceptance results”***

Rigor is key. You’ve hit the nail on the head.

going off of last year shouldn’t decisions come Thurs?

i thought it was friday

I went on their twitter and last year they let their applicants know they would have their decision 2 days before and they released on a Thursday.

If they are going to release Thursday, they might let us know today at around 5.

any updates on the release date?

Someone asked Dean J on Instagram last night and she said “by the end of the month.”

Until we hear otherwise, that’s the answer. Though we are still hoping for March 21 or 22…

For EA they sometimes just announce around noon on twitter and Notes from Peabody that decisions are coming out that night so there is still a chance that they will announce it sometime tomorrow for tomorrow night.

So if decisions were gonna come out today, there probably would have been some indicator by now then, right?

any updates?

Not necessarily…

For early action this year, there was NO notification at all PRIOR to results being posted.

Results were posted at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 25th. THEN an email went out at 5:19 pm, Admissions announced it on Twitter at 5:30 pm and Dean J announced it at after that on Twitter.

BUT- between 2 & 3 pm that day, some people reported glitchiness to their portal, and suspected a backend upload of data was causing it.

And so, we just have to wait and see…

Lets hope it comes out today! Good luck to everyone

Have admissions been especially quiet this year? I feel like there was more communication in years past. Or maybe that means decisions aren’t ready to be released.

Given that Dean J is posting again … they should be coming out really soon. ( as in a day or two ) . At least this is what we observed with EA.

I can tell you right now the glitch has started, the image on top of the status page is blurry and floating…i guess the servers are being loaded. yikes …or am i dreaming?

Is this an indicator that decisions will be released tonight?

My picture has changed to a blurry painting of two students walking in the rain

Which photo are we talking about? I don’t see any on my portal

Omg!!!
