for those applying to seas, do we have to have a computer class to be admitted? Or can we take it when we get there?

hey guys just as someone who formerly had this predicament, you should check out websites for housing other than UVA Housing if you want a little more flexibility timewise… I looked all around (ULoop, CraigsList, HooHasIt, Facebook Marketplace) and actually ended up in UVa Housing from someone trying to get out of her contract to live with her bf off-grounds… got where I wanted (Bice!) instead of being put in the lottery; also helpful when UVa ran out of spots in Housing for transfer students last fall

A couple of comments regarding 1) May 1st and 2) housing:

Our son (OOS) transferred to UVA this past fall as a second-year student. On May 1st last year, he was notified that he had been waitlisted for transfer, so he began to make plans to transfer to William & Mary. However, in early June, he was notified that he had cleared the waitlist and had been admitted to UVA (College of Arts and Sciences - foreign affairs/economics). Of course, because it was now early June, we were concerned that on-campus housing might be an issue. Fortunately for him, it wasn’t - he received a spot in his first choice for housing, Lambeth Field. The moral of the story: don’t become despondent if you’re waitlisted on May 1st. Although certainly not a guarantee (and, of course, dependent upon the UVA college/school to which you are seeking admission), there may be a possibility that you will hear positive news later in May or in June (if your circumstances allow you to wait for that possibility). Ditto for housing. Our son has had an outstanding year academically and in his extracurricular life, and has thoroughly enjoyed living at Lambeth (he has elected to move into his fraternity’s house this coming fall). UVA has been an excellent fit for him, and he couldn’t be happier. Go Wahoos!

anyone still looking for housing? i have a SHEA HOUSE contract for girls. willing to pay your $100 deposit.

Does anyone here need on campus housing?

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could help me out in trying to figure out what would help me increase the chances of getting accepted to UVa. I’m currently finishing up my freshmen year at a Florida University.
College:
*3.4 GPA (went down because I missed a final, leaving me with a C- for Cal)
However, most likely will be up to a 3.5 by end of Fall 2009. (which still sucks but it happens).
*Relatively active:
*NCAA
*NSCS member
*Phi Alpha Delta Pre-law Fraternity
*Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society qualifier but denied it
*Dean’s list for two semesters
*Volunteer at Florida’s Capitol Museum
*Outloud Magazine/newspaper staff writer
*Currently on Scholarship
*Might intern at Attorney General’s office
*Currently working

High School- had ok grades, but nothing really stands out. Just enough to get me and in-state scholarship. Was fairly involved in clubs & sports, but nothing major.

I am looking for what my chances are and what I can do to improve them. I know the GPA is kind of low, but the Cal was almost unpredictable as it was a last min thing that I could not make the final, but it’s really weighing down my GPA.
