Hi Everyone -

I just wanted to say hi & good luck to everyone who has applied as a transfer - I'm a VCCS transfer. Only about a month longer to wait!:)

I’m a VCCS transfer applicant as well! Good luck!

Yeah me too. How confident are you guys though? I know I will get into the engineering school because I met (and far exceeded) the guarantee admission requirements. Are any of you applying to the business school? That is what I am nervous about. I know its very hard to get into that program, even as a VCCS transfer.

Ahhh Im really nervous, at least I am not oos. Ive seen recent statistics that about 20% of the oos transfer applicants are admitted. May 1st cannot get here fast enough…

I’m hoping to get in as well (engineering transfer from Virginia Tech), although I’m admittedly less confident after hearing some of the stories on this forums. Hopefully those only represent the most extreme circumstances.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Also, I’d like to see more CavDog (or at least some CavBear) love on the transfer blog. I’m sure CavDog has lots of experience transferring tennis balls from the tennis courts to his secret hideout.

ymon, your coming to UVA engineering from Virginia Tech? If you don’t mind me asking, why? Overall VT is ranked higher than UVA and I am just curious as to why you would want to leave. By the way, I am not advocating one over the other. I would choose UVA’s engineering program over VT, but that is just personal preference.

From one former transfer student, now alumni…good luck everyone! :)

There are a number of aspects that I really prefer about UVA (including–but not limited to–location, architecture, class size). Also, although the engineering at Virginia Tech may trump UVA overall in the rankings, UVA’s computer science is generally regarded as higher quality (which also tends to attract more varied employers in addition to the typical government contractors).

I second the push for more CavDog on the Transfer Blog…it seems like there’s not so much activity over there. Maybe it will change soon. Coutning the days…

Oh - to answer WolfPack - I would say I’m moderately confident. On the up side, I’m in-state, applied to CAS, & worked very hard to get as close as I could to meeting the gen-ed type requirements (though I don’t have every credit necessary for guaranteed admission). On the other side, you can just never know what they’re looking for in terms of building a class of people. Stay positive, everyone:)

The only thing I’m concerned about is course load - I haven’t finished all my pre-reqs because I have jumped around a bit already. But I will have a 3.77 at the end of this semester, I made Dean’s List last semester, I work part-time and I was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. I’m crossing my fingers for all of you, though! Good luck! Only 32 more days ;)

“Also, although the engineering at Virginia Tech may trump UVA overall”

Neither program is top-notch, we’re not talking about MIT vs. UVA, the difference in rankings is actually quite negligible.

^^^^True. While Tech is more recognized as an engineering school compared to UVa…pretty much the difference in the rankings is only a few spots.

Hi all,
does anyone know if there is an application status page?
Thanks

Don’t get me wrong, I personally don’t notice much of a difference overall (although certain departments in each school certainly seem to edge out the other), I was simply referring to the empirical rankings of the schools from various publications.

Just as well, the education at two different institutions can be very similar and yet the experience can vary widely; I’m looking for more of a UVA experience.

“does anyone know if there is an application status page?”

Yes, it’s near the bottom of your SIS home screen, right after you log-in.

Thank you ymon.
But where do I find the SIS/log in page? O.o
I never received any kind of log in information…
How did you receive your log in information?

Hi -

You should have received it in an email from UVA. Check your spam folder, it might be there. If not, give a call to see how you can receive one. The SIS will be the first place you will find out about the decision on May 1 at 5PM. The letter follows after that.

ymon: welcome to the “why are you leaving VT engineering for UVA engineering?!?!” world. Don’t worry, both places will lead you to great things in life. But, I do understand why you would want to transfer here, and best of luck to you. It’s been a lovely 3 years here :)

hey guys! just 28 days left!

WolfPack, im fairly confident but the more I read on collegeconfidential, the less confident i become. I was really involved this year and got good grades, and I’m done with all my gen eds. I think i’ll be okay though. My essays were pretty good and I’m in state so that cant hurt.

do you all think theres any chance that they’ll release the decisions before May 1st?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Most of the complaining going on are the Virginia forums are from the freshman admission process. The freshman process and transfer process are two different things. Plus, if you meet most of the requirements (or will meet all requirements before matriculation), then you should be fine.

I am not really worried about my admissions into though. I met the requirements for engineering and I am fairly confident about admission into their math program. Hopefully we all get in!
