I am OOS for both of them, and would go to UVA with the intention of ending up in McIntire. On the other hand, I am already guaranteed to be in Ross because I got in through preferred admission. I am definitely set on being in the b school at both of these options. Any thoughts?

Any idea what your goals post-college are? What do you like/dislike about both schools?

I have a brother going into investment banking, but I want to learn more about all the different career paths out of business school (consulting, finance, management) before I know for sure what I want to do. I like the more southern atmosphere at UVA, but I am concerned about getting into McIntire in the first place (because I will most likely greatly regret my decision if I didn’t get into that school) and that Ross offers more opportunities than McIntire given the 3 year program and a seemingly slight overall edge as an undergrad b school.

I’d contest your point that Ross offers more opportunities than McIntire and that it has a slight edge overall. There are plenty of opportunities for first and second years to get involved in McIntire-type activities. I wouldn’t let the application process intimidate you - if you’re a preferred admit to Ross, you definitely have the academic chops to do well at UVA.

The reason I asked about career paths is because I have heard Ross places well for consulting but not quite as well for IB. I have heard McIntire does a little better for IB (as far as NYC goes).
