UVA vs Vanderbilt vs Georgetown (If I get in)

Hi guys,
I got into UVA, Vandy and waiting on McDonough (probably won't get in) as a transfer student. I am having trouble deciding what my order of preference should be (money isn't really an issue as I am OOS)

I am a hopeful Economics or business student and UVA offers a solid business course I can apply to in sophomore year. However, the college is less well ranked than Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt seems to have a better social life (the reason I wanted to transfer in the first place was due to the poor social life at NYU).

So what do you think I should do. I want a university that has links to business' and also carries a name throughout the US and abroad.

Thanks for any replies and input you may be able to give me.

UVA Business is outstanding. I don’t know enough about the other two to speak on them, but if it is any major from which UVA derives prestige, it is business.

UVA is one of the top 3 public schools in the country. Easily on par with Vanderbilt. Most rankings’ methodology favors private schools.

Socially, they are a bit different. Both have a Greek presence but if that’s not your thing I would say it’s harder to avoid at Vanderbilt because the school is smaller and from what I have seen it’s the main social focus there. In addition, if you want to study business Vandy is out because they don’t even have an undergraduate business school.

Thanks for the input guys. I think from what I have heard/read, UVA is ahead of Vanderbilt. My only concern is that I won’t get into McIntire but the liberal arts school at UVA isn’t exactly bad so its no loss.

Vanderbilt is a wonderful school but you may want to factor in that transfer students are not being given on-campus housing the next 2 years due to a shortage of rooms as a result of the demolition of 6 older dorms. Also, as Kights09 pointed out, you cannot major in business at VU. Regarding the Vandy Greek system–my daughter has managed to find plenty of things to do on and around campus in Nashville even though she is not Greek.
