How easy is it to access wireless internet connections on Grounds? Can it be accessed from anywhere, and is there a website that gives tips on which types of notebooks to purchase?

Most areas have wireless. The only notable exceptions are the dorms which have wired access.

Hardware wise, a 802.11g adapter for your notebook (builtin or otherwise) is preferable. 802.11b however will also do just fine.

Finally, the school does offer some computer bundles (you should get a packet from ITC sometime if you're a new student); however, be aware, that you can find quality computers cheaper.

There are wifi hotspots pretty much everywhere except dorms. I've never had trouble finding a good connection.

About notebooks - pretty much anything on the market now will meet and exceed your needs. I could go on and on and on about recommendations and suggestions, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

How about the Mac notebooks which now can use (dual-universal) windows or whatever Apple calls their operation. Does anyone have that or would you recommend getting the Mac with this new capability?

If you like mac notebooks, go for it.

It's true that there is no wireless connection in dorm rooms, but in first year dorm lounges there is wireless.

You can also set up your own wireless hotspot with approval from ITC.
