UW BOTHELL VS Seattle University in business major

I am a transfer student, and I have been accepted by SU and UW BOTHELL.

Do you guys think the school future of UW bothell will be much better ? in 5yrs?

I have to make my decision before 630, so it is a little bit urgent.

Please help.

UW Bothell sucks. I know a lot of people who went their 1 year and moved to other schools the next because it SUCKS. If you don’t care about having a real college experience then UW Bothell is perfect for you. I think you will have more fun and get a great education at SU.

@2cute4you‌

Do you know about the business program at both school? I haven’t seen any institutions rank UW bothell, so does it matter?

@Andyyoung Not a clue about the business program. All I know is UWB is where you go if you don’t really care to have a “real” college experience. Most if not all the people I have heard that go there HATE it. I would literally consider any other school beside that place.

Its most likely not ranked for a reason. They have been around for a long time and the feedback from the alumni and students is not great.

You cant really even compare UWB to UW Seattle. UWB is just that bad. Don’t waste your time there.

@2cute4you‌

Actually, my question is how people compare UWB to SU(Seattle University) instead of UWS. 8-|

So what do you think about SU (Seattle University)?

Thanks though.

Neither Seattle University nor UW Bothell have ranked business programs as far as I’m aware. So it’s really unclear which one will give you a better education in business. As for utility in terms of your resume, they are pretty comparable, I would think. I don’t think one will bring you significantly more or less prestige than the other. If I were in your position, I would definitely make my choice based on cost. But there are also lifestyle and “college experience” factors to consider too.

I have heard that UW Bothell is kind of a “Community College 2.0” experience in terms of class sizes and overall feel of the place, and that might not be the case for Seattle U.

Im not sure about the people. People are people wherever you go really. It really is kind of like a “community college 2.0” but worst. You go there take care of business and you leave. There is really nothing great about that place. From what I heard, It doesn’t really even feel really like a university.

Its kind of funny because the only people who have nice things to say about UWB are people who either go there or are somehow associated with it.

Keep in mind SU is 3x more expensive then public university. There are other options for business programs at other great universitys in washington

The only real benefit of UW Bothell is you go there, take your classes, and get you degree. As for any sort of college experience, UWB is NOT the place to be. I would probably suggest UWB to you as a last resort if you don’t get into any other university.

Here are a couple of really helpful reviews I found.

College Senior Jun 29 2010
Parking: They want everyone to be more eco-friendly but they don’t realize, some people come from an hour way drive and chose Bothell because of its education values. They are wanting to charge those who don’t use the bus system.

College Sophomore Jan 18 2012
Greek Life: No UWB Greeks – there is no greek life at uwb. people have thrown around ideas of how to start one but its almost impossible. the school is just now getting started its legitimate housing system alone and there is no place to build greek houses anyway. however the greek system at the main campus has been used by bothell students before. there are a handful of frat guys who attend this campus(tho mostly not by choice) and a good number of party girls spend their free time hanging out at frats. that kinda takes away from the uwb population but at least a few kids get to experience greek.

Campus Dining: We have no verity in food. We have 2 small cafes and only a subways; it would be really nice if we had more options to dine at.

College Freshman May 24 2011
Nightlife: I personally haven’t tried to go out in Bothell, but all my friends tell me that it is really boring here, and that they can never find something to-do.

College Freshman Dec 26 2011
Majors: The discovery core classes seemed interesting at first until I realized my professors had no idea what they were talking about so now I am trying to transfer.

College Freshman Dec 26 2011
Campus Strictness: Too Involved – They got way too involved in my personal life which no school I have heard of has done before.

College Junior Jul 5 2012
Parking: There’s not enough parking, it’s expensive, and the only other way o get here is by bus.

College Junior Jul 5 2012
Off-Campus Dining: Nothing Close – Seriously, this campus isn’t walking distance from anything at all. It’s pretty isolated.

College Senior Sep 5 2013
Parking: Its really bad. The cost for a parking pass is already expensive, and its really hard to find a spot, I have to come extra early to find a spot.

College Sophomore Sep 21 2013
Local Atmosphere: At the moment, City of a Bothell is still renovating and reconstructing to become more prominent on the map. For now, it’s very boring, not that many places to eat unless you travel farther from Bothell, better to stay in the dorms and hang out there.

College Sophomore Sep 21 2013
Off-Campus Dining: Restaurants in Bothell can be described as dull and barren. I’ve only encountered a cafe and a small pizza joint close to walking distance away from school. Give it time while Bothell downtown is renovating, until then I give it a D.

College Senior Nov 6 2013
Campus Dining: There is no variety. The campus has begun bringing in food trucks which is helping the problem. Food costs seem high, no discount in comparison to off campus.

College Senior Nov 6 2013
Nightlife: very terrible. Bothell is not a hot bar scene.

College Freshman Nov 14 2013
Greek Life: UW Bothell does not have Greek life. However, I am in a fraternity at the Seattle campus and so are plenty of other Bothell students. We live on the Seattle campus, in our respective fraternity houses and commute.

Guys & Girls: Eh, Alright. If you like tanned girls in uggs or asian girls, you’ve hit the jackpot.

College Sophomore Nov 22 2010
Athletics: No Real Teams. There aren’t any real Varsity teams since we don’t have athletic fields or anything. Some clubs though.

College Freshman Mar 31 2012
Facilities: The only interesting facility is the fact that we have a room specifically built for video games. Campus looks clean and new, library looks like any ordinary library.

College Senior Jun 30 2012
Diversity: Unspoken Things That We All Notice – There are many sensitive topics that revolve around diversity. At UWB, people seem will act like they’ll accept who you are but before you know it, they will be talking behind your back. For ethnic/racial diversity, most of the people are white. Of course there are people of different races too, but you rarely see any blacks. It just seems like the case as people go higher up with their education, its sad to say. Politics is not discussed openly as school as our librarian said that she’s been warned by the school already. Religion is not brought up at school most of the time, it’s not something people are interested in. Perhaps on certain religious holidays, one’s religion is brought up in a random conversation. Sexual orientations always lead to rumors…

Off-Campus Dining: There are little to no options for dining besides Subway and little snacks, so if you have a car or have a friend who has a car, then you’re set. If not, good luck getting off campus and back before your next class starts.

College Sophomore Apr 28 2013
Campus Dining: At the Univeristy of Washington in Bothell, there aren’t that many dining options only 3 to be exact; 2 of them being student ran, being cafe sort of establishment, many choices for beverage but for food is just a bunch of store bought things e.i candy bars, chips, sandwiches, pop tarts, etc…, and the 3rd one being a Subway. Since the campus is practically shared with Cascadia Community College though students could go to their cafe as well too, so really bringing up the food establishment count to 4 places.

How about UW Bothell VS UW Tacoma?
Which campus has better business program?

I see that you are after the education aspect and not the “I-just-turned-21” aspect…

I have a family member that attended the UW Bothell’s Business Program and earned a great education and had a great experience. Granted, she isn’t one who’s priority was to party and act like a child that just moved out of her parents house; probably because of that, she got the most of her experience and her money’s worth.

She is intending on attending grad school at either SU, or UWS, whichever accepts her, but her preference is UWS because she had such a great education experience with the UW in Bothell.

The key take away is you get the same diploma no matter which campus you decide to attend. UW tends to have more financial aid opportunities as it is Washington’s “flagship” school, which also has a level of prestige associated with it. As a junior and senior at the UWB, she landed a prestigious and competitive internship which now employs her. That alone should speak for the merit of UWB. There is nothing wrong with smaller class sizes and less outside distraction from the party scene; if anything, that should help you decide where you will in fact receive a better education. Smaller class size equates to more interaction with your professors and other students in the program, which leads to networking, and eventually getting hired. I am pretty sure that is, or at least should be, a priority for those of us willing to spend the insane amounts of money required to get educated. Unless you want to pay out your ass to party, then that’s up to you.

Sorry I can’t help you with Tacoma. Hope this helps a little, good luck!

SU is quite a bit better than uwb for business school. Of course SU is much more expensive. So you’ll have to weigh your priorities.

Uwb is better than uwt because its closer to seattle and gives you more job opportunities.

Uwb is exactly as 2cute said, its community college 2.0 both in college experience and in academics. As for what norn said about getting the same diploma and prestige as UWS, that is completely false. The diploma says uwb and signed by the bothell campus president. So you can forget about saying you went to UW and omitting which you campus you went to. As for the prestige, it only comes if you get in the main campus. Which obviously is a lot harder to get into than uwb for a reason. So comparing the main campus with the other campuses is like comparing UC Merced to UCLA.

Of course uwb isn’t a terrible school either, its a decent up and coming school that still has a lot to offer. You still get a decent education and job opportunities just not as good as the main campus.

Hello,

I got selected for Graduate Degree in Computer Science in both Seattle University and UW-Tacoma campus.

Can you please suggest which one is a better option for me?

P.S: I am an International Student.

Thanks in advance !!!
