Which is better? UW-seattle or University of Wisconsin-Madison

Hi, guys! I just got admitted to both UW-seattle and University of Wisconsin-Madison, but I cannot decide which one to attend right now. My major will be business and I am an international transfer. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don’t know much about their business programs, but in terms of academics theyre both great schools. Does location matter to you? Extra curriculars?

Personally I prefer UW-Seattle because of its location, but the time is a little tight because I applied its summer transfer. This means I have to make an appointment to update my visa within a month and come back from China before the term starts. Btw, can I postpone to summer B term which will start in July so I can better deal with it?

As you said, I would choose UW-Seattle due to its location alone. I’m pretty sure their business programs are similarly ranked, while UW-Seattle is probably slightly better overall.

There are some classes that are offered B-term, but not all.

That’s exactly what I thought! Thanks very much!!

I just emailed UW admission office today…see what we’ll get on Monday! Thx a lot~lol

UW Madison is significantly better overall with nearly twice as many highly ranked depts in the latest NRC rankings. Also the business school has FAR better placement with a separate placement office just for undergrad business. UW-M is ranked at least 10 spots higher in both USNews and Businessweek. Udub is working on a separate placement office but it’s years away and will have no connections when it opens. I work in Seattle with many Udub grads and they all say the placement situation was terrible. If you want to work outside Seattle the chances get pretty slim.
Madison also has much more of a campus feel with many more commuters at Udub. Also the commercial area near Udub is somewhat iffy at best.

Don’t forget- do the ECs for yourself because you enjoy them and you want to. It means very little if you’re only participating in them to try to impress colleges.

i love going to uw seattle, great school

however, uw madison is an AMAZING school and higher ranked then uw seattle. i know several people (and a few relatives) that went there, and found it very fufilling

ive been to wisconsin several times, and I really love the atmosphere (love seattle’s too tho!)

UW madison is higher ranked than UW seattle? According to which ranking?

US News UDub 41 Wisconson 45

Fluke. Every other year Wisconsin was higher ranked. Then they added the bogus “guidance counselor” factor whatever that even captures. Wisconsin’s engineering, business and education schools are all ranked higher. And in the grad dept. rankings Uwis had 36 Top 10 ranked depts and Udub had 23.

When I made my decision UW and Wisconsin were in my top three. Both schools seem evenly ranked, however don’t let that sway you too much.

I chose UW based on the fact that it is in-state (hence cheaper tuition), in a major metropolitan city where connections with business are numerous, and UW was higher based on my potential majors.

For international business, I think UW Seattle is stronger especially since it is a major trading city. Not to mention, there is racial diversity here, which Wisconsin lacks.

Although, a plug-in for Wisconsin is that it is in the quintessential college town. Everyone there has a ton of school spirit!

You can’t really go wrong with this decision, since they are both great schools!

University of Washington is higher ranked according to the most respected authority in education publishing, which is Times.
