UW Chance Me + Question

I’m a running start student and should have an AA at graduation, which I’ve heard UW really likes.

I’m thinking about writing one of my admissions essays about rap music and the racial/cultural underlyings, but am afraid because it is risk. Since my GPA is low, my essay could be the deciding factor of my application. Does anyone know if UW likes “different” essays… or do they prefer the more “cookie-cutter” well rounded essays?

Also, my major is political science. I haven’t really heard anything (positive or negative) about UW’s political science department. Does anyone know how this program is?

It sounds like you’ll probably get in. I’m not sure how SAT and ACT compares but I got in with a not so great (1690) SAT score. My GPA was 3.8 and I was out of state. You have a good test score and I’ve met a ton of people that did running start, so I assume they accept a lot of them.
