As of right now, I'm mainly deciding between attending UC Davis as a Managerial Economics major or attending UW's pre-business program. I'm leaning a lot more towards UW and Seattle's city atmosphere, but my parents are pretty set on me attending UC Davis since it's closer to home and "higher ranked" overall. How should I convince my parents to let me attend UW? Also, is Foster better than the business majors that are at Davis?

bump

We’re in such a similar position. The only difference I got ECONOMICS at UCD and not managerial economics…sigh. Even my parents say the same about UCD being higher ranked but the only counter arguement I have is Seattle. The city can have many benefits. Also foster b school programs for undergrads) such as accountancy, entrepreneurship, finance is under top 15 ranks nationally. 3/4 graduates stay in seattle. Uw is cheaper too . UCs have an infamous reputation of being money spinners. Anyway, I can emphatise with you but that’s it… I’m also considering D’amore Mckim Business School at NortheasternU .

UC Davis is more prestigious overall. However, the managerial economics is more broad major with economics concepts which will prepare you well for graduate MBA programs. If you want to get a pure business major then I suggest you goto UW.

@Wassupman99 any comments on business majors at uw vs business majors at northeastern?

I do not know much about the two programs, but I do do know that UW’s business program is considered more prestigious than northeastern. Prestige is important in business, however, building connections is far more important. Where do you see yourself working in the future? The east coast or the west coast? If you’re planning to find a job after college, I suggest you attend the college in the area you see yourself working in and start building connections from there.
