UW Madison Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Just came back from West Lafayette. The Purdue CS dept is distinctly separate from the ENG faculty, not that that is a bad thing. In some places, like MN, the CS and ECE are all in the same building, and share a lot of courses/teachers.

When can we expect the decision on EA def’ed to come out?

I’m not sure but I heard next Friday

Do you happen to know the dates for the Admitted Student Session and Tours? My son has been deferred, but we would like to think about travel plans ahead of time if he is admitted.

We have an admitted student tour scheduled April 8th - that is the only one I know of.

I think there are tours this Friday, 3/25 for admitted students

we are doing the April 8 one too. it worked best with sports scheduling. . .

There are quite a few general admitted student tours, I copied this from the Visit Bucky site. There are also school specific in-person events, my student is going to one on 4/22 (B School and CALS have admitted student events that day)

This information session is designed for admitted first-year students. As you make your final college selection, hear why the University of Wisconsin–Madison experience is unlike any other. Following the session is a 90-minute walking tour of campus specially tailored for admitted students.

  • 03/26/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/01/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/02/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/22/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/23/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/25/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central
  • 04/29/22 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM Central

I think the April 8 event is “UW Day” or something like that, it has a full day of events and tours. since we are a flight away, we went with the longer day of events instead of the 90 minutes admitted student tours.

Yes, that is understandable! Unfortunately the April 8 Your UW Day is full so we are going to the 4/22 direct admit day at the business school instead. But we can drive so not difficult to just come for the afternoon.

that sounds great - I do think the admitted student sessions are really helpful to attend - let your kid feel the love

D22 is seriously considering UW Madison (for Computer Engineering) and we will visit in April. We would definitely like to attend admitted student’s events but the VisitBucky page for admitted students is offline currently. She is a fun-loving person and will definitely like to check out outside of the campus too. Any suggestions on what we should show her around? We are from California and this will be our first visit to Madison. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Has anyone attended the Visit UW day for admitted students? We’re in Madison and signed up for the event, but we’ve visited before and only intersted in attending a few of the sessions. Can’t find an agenda for the day (and admissions was not much help). Anyone have any insight on this?

My son was admitted as well, and is seriously considering attending UW! I lived in Madison for a time many years ago. It is a great city and beautiful! One of my favorite things about Madison are the 3 lakes. It just seems like every time you turn a corner you see a lake (and feel immediately calmed). It’s walkable and bike-friendly. If you are there on a Saturday morning and the Farmer’s Market has started, that is worth going to! It is wraps around the beautiful state capital building, which, btw, is just 3 feet shorter than the US capital! Though it’s been many years since I lived there, it has always had great places to eat and an active arts scene. Also, I’m sure you’ll get to it, but the Memorial Union is a fun place to hang out! Get some food, a beer and/or the Babcock ice cream (which is made by the UW’s own agricuture department)! Sorry I don’t have more specifics (I hope others weigh in), but it really is a great town! I hope you and your daughter have a great trip!

Thanks much!

Does anyone have any special insights (e.g. a friend of a friend who works in the UW-Madison admissions office, or changes in the portal) of whether decisions are likely today, or whether we might have to wait until next week?

Check your SOAR portal, sounds like there is a potential change. Read the UW class of 2026 thread. Lots blowing up there.

Thank you.

I see cost of attendance populated in my son’s portal, no scholarship. I am not in favor of sending him there with 57K. He just applied in regular decision because his friends got accepted in early action.

My SOAR has changed 3x today
