I got accepted to all of these three schools, and am aiming for engineering major but not sure which field yet.
Is there any suggestion, personal story or preference? I am an international student from Asia, looking for the best choice. For all possibilities, which would be the best investment I could bet on?
Thank you for all suggestions!

hello~~ anyone? please, i need some suggestions…
more info.: I may lean towards the field of chemical or biomedical engineering.

knock knock? anyone out there?

I’d say Purdue ought to be your top choice generally but I can’t say for sure if it’d be the best for chemical or biomedical.

You cannot go wrong at either of them generally. Wisconsin’s ChemE program is in the top 10 BUT that is the graduate program which may/may not affect the undergraduate program.

I think Penn State is an excellent option, with a huge global alumni network.

i dunno they are all great…when in doubt I would choose the smaller (relatively in this case) engineering program (Wisconsin); at least for undergrad…for grad school i’d say the opposite

All are good engineering schools. Wisconsin and Purdue are generally considered a notch above PSU (and that’s not a knock on Penn State by any means) in engineering, but you’d be fine at any of them. UW again is tops in ChemE, but the differences in rankings really aren’t very important to your future career, particularly in engineering. It’s the “fit” stuff that’ll make the difference in how happy your experience is.

For internationals, I generally recommend that 1) they try to locate in or near an urban center, and 2) attend a school with a relatively high international population. You may not value those criteria, but if you do, Wisconsin is likely the place you’d enjoy the most. Penn State is very isolated - a community in and of itself - and Purdue, while somewhat near Indianapolis (a minor US city) and Chicago (a major US city), isn’t exactly a cosmopolitan place, either. Madison (UW) seems closer to what I’m guessing you’d want. However, if cold weather is an issue, then all three would be problematic, but UW moreso than the others. And if you’re going to do little but study and not learn about US culture, then figure out what IS important to you and determine which school best fits those criteria.

Whichever place you choose, you’ll adapt and make it work for you. Good luck!

Thank you for all the replies! I think I figured out what is best for me academically. Of course there are going to be sacrifices for the best. I have to earn it, that’s a sure thing. I chose Wisconsin and am planning to get into ChemE.

Good choice. Say hi to Dr. Lightfoot for me. He doesn’t know me, but every ChemE will use his Transport book.

Could you tell me how your decision has been for you?
