<p>My daughter is a finalist candidate for UW NASA scholarship and UW NASA program invites her to attend an UW event and interview on March 04. Does it mean she already has been accepted to UW for general admission? Does anybody in this forum know about this scholarship and what is the chance she will get scholarship? Thank.</p>
<p>I’m a finalist too. I think all finalists get accepted. I don’t know how many finalists win a scholarships, hopefully all of us 
Not super relevant but I did read in 1997 all finalists who attended UW received the scholarship.</p>

<p>Our S is also a NASA Space Grant Finalist, but his interview is on a different date in March. It would be great if all Finalists are already admitted (though the letter didn’t say so) and also if all who attend get the grant.</p>

<p>My daughter went to interview yesterday. It is a group interview with 6 students and three advisors, couple professors and head of NASA scholarship program. They didn’t say how many will win the NASA grant but the winners will be less than normal because of sequestration. All NASA finalists have been accepted to UW.</p>

<p>RATS!! I was afraid sequestration was hitting at the WORST possible time for our HS seniors’ financial aid prospects. ;(</p>
<p>Did you go with her, and if so was there enough for you to do around campus while she finished the interview? S’s letter made it sound like parents were invited for part of the day.</p>

<p>No, I didn’t go with her because of my work schedule but there are plenty of places to go around U district or U villages. My D told me all parents are gone their own way while students went to different UW science/engineer labs or listen to speakers and group interview.</p>

When you son is going to interview? Does your S plan going to engineer school or computer or science? Good luck to your son and hope our kids can get scholarship.</p>

<p>He is interested in becoming a research scientist, which I suppose will mean a PhD is in his future. </p>

<p>My D likes to become Computer engineer/scientist or other engineer as undergraduate. She likes to become an medical doctor if she can. She wants to focus only the first ftwo years and decide which field will be her strongest field in college. She takes all AP science, math classes in high school and she does well in these area but she wants to wait if she can do well in college before she makes a final decision. She applied a direct admission to computer engineer and I hope she can get in. I don’t know how many interview days there are but each interview day is about 30 students.</p>
<p>It sounds like your D has a great college plan and has worked hard in high school.</p>

<p>After this morning’s info session I can add a bit more.</p>
<p>They said there are 50 finalists, with only two interview days (Monday and Friday). </p>
<p>If I heard correctly, all students invited to interview are ALREADY designated NASA Space Grant students, eligible for special Space Grant/Honors housing and research projects. They only have enough funding this year to give a subset of Space Grant students scholarships (due to sequestration), but the rest of the perks of the program are already theirs. </p>
<p>They didn’t explicitly say they were all admitted to UW, but that seemed implied. Although they are automatically eligible for Space Grant/Honors housing, I think the Honors admissions process may be separate. </p>
<p>Today’s interview groups are 5 students to 5 faculty interviewers.</p>
<p>There is a Q&A session this afternoon, so I’ll make corrections or additions later if needed.</p>

I know this is an old post, but did the finalists end up getting accepted?
I can only speak for our S, who was admitted but decided to attend Northwestern University near Chicago instead, where he’s in the Integrated Science program (ISP).

I went to the interviews last week and I’ve been so confused with whether or not we’ve already been admitted, guess we’ll just have to see. But thank you!
@goblazers - My money is firmly on you being admitted to UW, but keep us posted. You are clearly an awesome student since you’re admitted to the NASA Space Grant program so I’m sure you will also have plenty of great options as well.
