UW or cheaper instate school for premed?

Hi, I am having trouble deciding whether or not to go to University of Washington- Seattle or University of Nevada Reno for pre-med? UW would be about 43k per year while UNR would be at most 16k (since it is in state). My dream medical school is the University of Washington School of Medicine, so I am thinking that I could get a leg up if I go to UW for undergrad as well. I plan to do well at whichever undergraduate that I choose to attend, but it seems like UW has more opportunities and hospitals nearby, but also more competition. I’ve also read that The UW school of medicine is more selective with UW applicants since there are so many?
I know that a lot of people say undergrad doesn’t matter, but if I went to UNR and had the same stats as someone at a more prestigious university, I feel like they would definitely pick the applicant from the more elite college. Please let me know if you have any advice! Thank you!

More than half the applicants interviewed to go to UWSOM were from UW itself. UW is a highly prestigous university ranked well globally. Go there, get residence there for and year and get in-state tuition starting your second year there. Boom, win win my friend

Do you think it’s doable to work 30 hrs a week & be premed though? I think that’s the only way to be a resident :o unless there’s another way?
