I'm in the University of Washington as a freshman with junior credits. I applied to the UCLA and was accepted as a Pre Business Econ major. Anyone know how will the classes transfer from the UW to UCLA? I'm in the BA Econ program at UW, and am anticipating the Foster school of Business to admit me too. My options at the UCLA are business econ or econ. I really don't know which to choose. UW has a good business school, but UCLA is just famous overall...

And overrated. UW is as good.

UC is not worth the OOS fee. Stay at U-Dub.

I’d also recommend staying at UDub if you’re instate for it. If you’re not, before you consider transferring i’d talk to someone at UCLA about seeing how your credits would transfer.

How do you figure, barrons? UCLA is if anything, underrated. Its sports teams take away from its academic luster.

I didn’t see anywhere where phd listed that he’s from Washington, although I only glanced at some of his prior posts. Maybe he’s from CA and went to UDub, which is happening a lot.

I’m paying in state for Washington so if I transfer I’ll have to pay oos $_$

What tells me to stay at UW is its business school. I applied to accounting and finance and it is likely that I will get in. Accounting and finance is way more easier to find a job compared to an econ major.

Many say UCLA is overrated, some say UW isn’t bad - can’t really comment, or else I can make the decision - BUT, from my home country UCLA is way more famous than UW - this is certainly true. So maybe any major from a famous school maybe better than a good major from an okay school.

I sent emails and transcript to UCLA undergrad admissions and asked about my transfer credits but never heard back…

And I’m also nervous that I can’t get into bizecon or econ at UCLA… As I said I’m already in econ and possibly will be in biz…

By any measure of faculty quality and resources Udub and UCLA are very close. Each has some stronger areas but overall-not significant difference.

What would your debt be like? UCLA’s a better school, but not worth a ton of debt. UW is a great school and with in-state tuition, probably relatively cheap. I’d probably choose UW.
