UW or VT???

I am stuck between accepting my waitlist acceptance at University of Washington Seattle or sticking with my decision to attend Virginia Tech. If anyone goes to either school and could give me some advice I would be forever thankful! ahhh! I dont know which to choose!

Where do you live? What is the difference in costs, including the cost of travel? Have you visited both? Does the city vs. small town thing have any influence on your decision?
Do you know for sure what you want to study, and what the relative strength of the program is at the two universities?

My husband went to Virginia Tech, and I went to the UW for grad school. They are both great schools - very different settings.

How do you look in maroon and orange vs. purple?

I live in California near San Francisco and just got back from Seattle to visit the campus and I have been to both schools. The size of the city isn’t that big of a factor but I did like the atmosphere of UDub better because it is a lot like San Francisco but I like the atmosphere at both schools. Virginia Tech’s out of state tuition is around $10,000 more than UW so that may be a deciding factor once I talk to my parents and due to the distance travel would also be more expensive. My dad went to VT so I know more about it than UW. I would study engineering at VT and either Bio or Bioengineering at UW. And purple has always been my favorite color… but I’m trying to not let colors and mascot influence my decision lol.

I transferred to UW in Fall 2011, I almost went to U of Miami but chose to wear the Purple and Gold, I knew that after watching 2000 UW vs. UM and saw how crazy the crowd was and the stadium in the background. It was so cool finally going to the games except last year I had to miss most of them as I studied abroad in Cusco, Peru. The degree programs I was interested in where stronger here and was quite a challenge to get into the Jackson School. I am Finishing a double Major In Political Science Focus in Political Economy and International Studies with a focus in Latin America Government and Politics. I could not have done this at most schools. Lastly I am going to study Communism and in eastern Europe this Summer and Fall From Romania to Czech Rep.

Is UW a good school for biochem or chemistry majors?
