I got the offers from UW, WPI, and Purdue undergraduate. All of them are undeclared major, because I was not sure what I would learn at that time. After learning AP CS, I have the interests to continue. It looks like UW has the best CS major, but it’s really competitive. I’m not sure if I could get in. I feel like if I can’t get in CS major, it will be meaningless to choose UW. How are WPI and Purdue in CS major? Are they known and are students from these two school easy to get a job? and how is UW’s other major(math or science)?
Getting into CS at Purdue is also very competitive - check those requirements. All three schools still have solid CS. If you want to guarantee that you study CS in college, WPI may be the only valid option here.
I thought CS in Purdue was belong to the science college instead of engineer college? Is it still hard to get in? Wow, I may reconsider it.
Purdue’s CS is still a top ranked program even not located in college of engineering.
Here are Purdue’s requirements to enter the CS major: https://www.cs.purdue.edu/undergraduate/codo.html
Summary: A- or better in CS 18000 (first CS course), B or better in calculus, 3.00 overall GPA or higher.
Note the above though, found on the website linked:
I feel like at least 3.5 GPA needed for UW cs major.
For WPI and purdue, whose cs major is better? or it’s similar?
