UW Seattle Chances

My main goal is UW Seattle but I have the Tacoma campus as a backup plan, and a few California schools in mind as well (UCSD or USSC)

I'm starting to think the schools that provide my major (marine biology) are high reaches and I'm terrified. Researching acceptance rates has done me no good and I'm freaking out!!

I'm a senior right now btw :)

GPA: 3.61 but by the end of 1st semester this year it should be a 3.7

SAT: 1600. I had a 1520 the first time and I really wish I didn't send both scores haha. I'm a terrible test taker and it definitely shows through my SAT's.

AP: AP Lang (an A for the class both semesters and a 3 on the test) and AP Gov currently for senior year

Honors English sophomore year (an A in the class both semesters)

Pre Calc junior year. A B- first semester and a B second semester. Math isn't my strong point but it was a senior level math class so I consider that a hard earned B.

Physics for my senior year math based course.

Leadership 9th-12th grade

Spanish 1 2 and 3 (sophomore- senior year foreign language) which is above the graduation requirements

Leadership Roles: link crew leader 2 years, school mentor freshman year at my junior high, involved in a program to teach about school unity and bullying for 3 years. All of these programs I was chosen to be a part of.

I've done community survice by teaching at a church and I've also been a part of putting on a cheer camp for little kids for 2 years. And I've used link crew for some hours as well

I was a Varsity Cheerleader from 9th-12th grade. (Nationally ranked team that has traveled to florida the last 2 years if that even makes a difference)

Also first generation to go to college..

I really hope I have enough to make my application look good enough. I'm aware that my scores are low and my gpa is jut slightly about average. Ugh.. So stressed. Please chance me, it would be greatly appreciated!

I meant to say UCSC

bump

^^^

I think you have a good chance in getting into UWSeattle but I’m not sure about the UC, not familiar with their requirements but You have good class rigor and just enough SAT scores and GPA to get in. Best of luck! Chance me too!

Anyone??

^^^

bump

??

Bump

Can you full pay for UCSD or UCSC?
UW seattle is a reach because of your SAT, and UCSD is a reach because of your GPA AND SAT.

doesn’t uw look at an application holistically though? I know they take the essay into pretty strong consideration…

I’m just nervous. I know I’ll get into UW tacoma because it’s really easy, I’m just so worried about seattle. I know this is chiche but it’s my dream college, and my stats aren’t good enough to make the cuts unfortunately… All I can do is wait at this point but that’s the worst part… Ugh

They also have a 55% acceptance rate if that helps…

I live in California I know the UC stats pretty well. Definitely not UCSD sorry bud nooo way the average gpa is like a 4.1. But UCSC could be a low reach! It is one of the less selective UC’s but it’s still tricky to get into. The average gpa is around 3.85 and 1800 SAT. I’m applying there too I think its a low reach, I have a 3.71 and 1770 SAT. Good luck!

I kind of already crossed the UC’s off my list… Just because I kniw they would be a waste to apply to. But UW is my main concern, and I would appreciate the most predictions for that

Bumppp

Bump

Your GPA and SAT score are above average. ECs, ok. Considering that UW Seattle isn’t necessarily a “difficult” school to get into, you have a decent chance. I’ve known people with a mid-level GPA that were accepted last year. As for UW Tacoma, I’m almost certain that you will be accepted. Good luck!

You should be okay on UW, but don’t count yourself out on the rest. UC’s are holistic. You seem well-rounded so don’t count yourself out. I applied to UCLA so I have some background on it. DO NOT think marine biology is your decided major though. It could change. A lot of people change. Best of luck to you. Could be a close call at UW Seattle this year. Your GPA is lower than the average of those who enrolled last year (3.76). The 2013 data had middle 50% SAT of 1630-2000, and in 2014 the middle 50% ACT was 25-31. Applications are up 16% this year, so I would expect those GPA, SAT and ACT numbers to go up and the acceptance rate to go down. Being an in state resident should improve your chances.
