AP Cal AB = 4
AP Physics 1 and 2 = 3
AP Gov = 5
AP Lang =5

I am a girl so not sure if it helps to make case for CS.
Does I have a chance to get into DA ot CS or should I apply to Direct to Engineering and try Computer enginering seconf year?
Direct to Engineering just changed last admissions cycle. Direct to CS just changed for this fall’s application cycle.
What I have heard is: Expanding Direct to Engineering greatly increased their yield – turns out if you guarantee a spot in engineering, more students are willing to come! They admitted too many for this fall and will probably be a little more picky when the next round of decisions are made to avoid doing that again. So, take that into account with any stats that are available for this past admissions cycle. Conversely, the expansion of Direct to CS means that they will be taking more students than before. This should relax requirements a bit from what they took last admissions cycle.
But with this much in flux, there isn’t a history to base your chances on. Apply to the major you want whether that’s CS or engineering. You look like a strong candidate for either and the admissions chances should be roughly comparable.
Your AP scores indicate that you are stronger in the Humanities than in the Math and Sciences. You sure you want to do engineering/CS? I think the Engineering/CS departments weigh Physics and Calc scores more than Gov and Lang.
Being a girl helps, but I’m not sure if it can overcome the other factors. This year, the girls I know who got into the CS DA program are all math wiz with near perfect scores. (My sample size is small though.)
Even though CS will expand DA program, it will only admit a few hundreds; Engineering school will admit thousands. If I were you, I would apply Direct to Engineering (if you really want to do Engineering, of course.)
Yes, but if you get into CS, you’re done competing for the major you want.
If you are admitted to engineering, you’ll compete again to get into computer engineering and run the risk of having to change to mechanical engineering or something else in the college of engineering if you don’t get it.
Yes. Thanks for feedback. I wanted to get clarity on CS/CE upfront instead of waiting for second year where one has to apply to CE program at UW as they have about 90 seats only remaining.
