UW Seattle vs SDSU vs CPP

Hello!

I live in Orange County, CA and I am currently deciding between UW-Seattle, SDSU, and CPP. My majors at CPP and SDSU are aerospace engineering and for UW, I got in as engineering undeclared.
Now, I know that CPP is especially good for engineering but I feel that my “traditional college experience” will be deprived if I go there because I heard that CPP has a meh social life. I really want to have that college experience and it is really important to me.
When it comes to SDSU, I feel that the lack of diversity and its rep as a “party school” is what’s holding me back.
For UW, I love the school, location, and campus so much plus it has a really good engineering program. The one thing holding me back is the cost, especially for an out-of-state student is a lot and not sure if it is worth it for an undergrad. I can afford it, but still.

I was wondering what my best choice to go to is. I know that in the end it is up to me to decide but I would like to hear som eother opinions as well

Thank you!

I cannot comment on UW but if costs are an issue and you need to take out loans beyond the $27K/4 years student Federal loans, I would consider CPP or SDSU. As an Undeclared Engineering major at UW, how easy is it to declare your preferred major of Aerospace?

SDSU is definitely more residential than CPP, but my attitude regarding your social life is up to you to make it happen. SDSU use to have a “party school” atmosphere 20 years ago, but things have turned around significantly in the last 5-10 years and now is one of the top Cal states in academics and diversity.

Any school can be a “party school” and as a CPP alumni, there was no shortage of parties when I attended.

SDSU diversity:
The enrolled student population at San Diego State University is 34.2% White, 31.3% Hispanic or Latino, 12.6% Asian, 6.11% Two or More Races, 3.92% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.284% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders. This includes both full-time and part-time students as well as graduate and undergraduates

UW diversity:
The enrolled student population at University of Washington-Seattle Campus is 40.3% White, 21.3% Asian, 7.99% Hispanic or Latino, 6.42% Two or More Races, 2.93% Black or African American, 0.414% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.334% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders. This includes both full-time and part-time students as well as graduate and undergraduates.

CPP diversity:
The enrolled student population at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona is 46.5% Hispanic or Latino, 21.2% Asian, 15.5% White, 3.59% Two or More Races, 3.35% Black or African American, 0.196% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders, and 0.143% American Indian or Alaska Native. This includes both full-time and part-time students as well as graduate and undergraduates.

Ultimately it will be up to you which school is your best fit, but the best gift any parent can give their student is a debt free Undergrad education.

Best of luck.

I would go SDSU. Great school, diverse, and you can afford it better which sounds of importance. CPP won’t give you that traditional experience you crave.
