UW transcript/mid year report and counselor wants to contact university

Hey guys, I was wondering if I was ever supposed to submit a transcript to the University of Washington. Or a mid-year report? I saw that some students have received an email asking for “unofficial transcripts” but I haven’t.

Secondly, my counselor wanted to contact the admissions office to explain why I only took four classes in my first semester. (I missed a lot of school due to unforeseen circumstances). How could he do this?

I know that submitting a transcript up through junior year was a part of the original application. As far as mid-year grades go for senior year, we had our guidance counselor send them in because they were helpful to the overall application, without getting any email requesting them. If they’re not going to be helpful, I’d wait and see if they do ask you for them before sending in.

The UW wants only the student’s Coalition application. If you did not explain your situation on your application it is too late. Their policy in the past has been to destroy any supplemental materials students try to submit. This includes letters, CDs, subject test scores, etc. to make sure there’s no secret back door.

If they want your US transcript during the admissions cycle, they will ask for it. (International applicants are always required to submit them.) Otherwise, they verify your grades when you accept your offer of admission.

No, you don’t need to submit official transcript to UW unless they request. Your counselor can reach out to them anytime by calling or emailing.

On their admissions page they specifically state they don’t want extra calls or emails and that you should include everything in your application. If you look, it should be at the very bottom of the page when you scroll down- don’t remember exactly what section on the website though. If I find it I’ll link it here
