Hi I'm from Northern California and I can't decide between UW, U of San Fran, or Boston U!!! UW is nationally ranked #1 for my major, which is nursing, but I absolutely hate the rainy weather. USF gave me the most money, but it's too close to home and seems to be all Asians (no offense as I am one myself). and BU is fairly decent in my major and is also gorgeous, but it's a bit costly and pretty far away (I didn't get too much money from them). Which do you think would best suit me in the long run?

Also, is it really groggy up there in Washington? Because normally when it's like that here, all I want to do is sleep, which distracts me from studying. I just feel like weather is the main thing that is causing me to stray away from UW because it is such a big factor to me. But I mean, otherwise, I love the school.

I would go to the school ranked #1 in my major… I find it odd that the main thing you are considering between the colleges is the weather. Perhaps take a trip to each of the colleges and then make a decision based on your experience at each one.

If weather really matters, go to USF.

I’m from Seattle and it’s not as bad as it’s made out to be. I think that fall and spring are beautiful in Seattle, especially with all the cherry trees at UW. Yes, winter is fairly gray, but it really doesn’t rain that much and you don’t have to deal with snow. Mainly it is just overcast or drizzling. When the sun comes out, you appreciate it that much more!

UW’s nursing school is superior and you should really consider it. I hate the weather as well, but at the same time it forces me to study in the winter because the cold and dark limits what else you can do. However from what it sounds like, if you can’t handle the rain in California you will not be happy here. It’s much darker in the winter here, much cloudier, and much wetter. Also while the nursing program is awesome it is very, very competitive, so make sure that you can handle that competition if you decide to come here. Otherwise this is an awesome school and I encourage you to come here; just be aware of all the caveats.

Boston University does not have a nursing school. Also, I have never heard anyone call the BU campus gorgeous. Do you mean Boston College (BC)?.

You should fly up for a weekend over the next month and see what you think of the weather. (flights too/from san fran are pretty cheap via alaska airlines and a few other carriers).

But yes, it’s very rainy. I love the gloomy rainy weather. It’s great studying while hearing the rain drop. However a friend of mine gets depressed in this weather and can’t do anything. So I guess what I’m saying is…it’s an individual thing, and that’s why you should really visit and check it out.

Also, there are alot of asians at the uw (only pointing it out because of the comment you gave about USF). If you visit, walk around campus on a weekday if you’re able to (otherwise still walk around around on a weekend, a weekday would give you a better idea of the student pop)
