Thanks in advance, everyone. If you want me to chance you too put a link at the bottom of your comment. :)

Your SAT score is extremely high for the schools on your list. Unfortunately your gpa is extremely low for the schools on your list. Whatever school that chooses to accept you will need to reconcile your obvious intelligence with your lackluster gpa which they will assume is a result of laziness.

I know 2 people from my school who had 2200+ SAT scores and ~3.0(2.9,3.1 gpas) and both were rejected from UW(instate). Their EC’s were nowhere close to your’s though.

I think it would be hard to get into UW because they weigh the gpa a lot in the admissions process. I think UVA would also be hard to get into for the same reason and you would be out of state. I think GW and American are viable options. American takes into consideration applicants’ interest in the school, so if you apply there you should try to sell your interest in the school to them. I have heard of Reed, but don’t know anything about their admissions.

If you get a 4.0 first semester maybe you can show the prospective schools that you are committed to working hard in school.

Yeah, my GPA is what I’m really going to be focusing on improving this year. I’ve been on American’s mailing list for the last year or so and I’ll be participating in one of their Prospective Family Chats this month. Thank you so much for your time!! Opinions are unbelievable useful when creating a final application list haha :)

Even though your gpa is low i would still apply to even more selective schools.

Despite your low GPA, upward trend often can make up for it. Hopefully, like you said, you’ll improve this time around. Otherwise your scores and EC’s are very impressive. If you improve the GPA you’ll have a good shot at these schools.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1366372-chance-me-stanford-pomona-rice-ucs-others-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’m kind of in the same situation as you (please chance me back!)

I think the key is to really make your ECs sound amazing and use your essays to make you stand out so that and you SAT can override your low GPA.

Also I wasn’t trying to dissuade you from applying to UW or UVA , I was just giving my (unqualified) assessment of your chances. I would definitely still apply to UW as your EC’s are outstanding and the adcom may be willing to overlook your gpa given your other impressive qualifications.

Oh, don’t worry about that at all, I value honest opinions! :)

I think your gpa hurts you at some of these schools, your SAT is waay better than the average applicants at these schools (except uva). In all honesty I think that if you write an awesome essay you could get into all but uva, and with an ok essay I think you are set for American and Reed

GWU also decides heavily on level of interest. Schedule an interview, visit campus if possible, and make sure that you “Why GWU?” supplement essay on your application shows a strong interest in the school…not just the area it is located.

All of your ECs and Test scores are stellar and I think that despite your lower gpa, you have a good shot at getting into all of them. If you get a very high gpa 1st semester you would really show that you will work very hard in college. Congrats on your achievements and good luck :)

I think you probably know that your GPA will hurt you a bit, but you’ve honestly got some crazy achievements through your ECs, and a solid SAT score. Plus, that upward trend in your GPA could do your favors. I think you have a decent shot at the schools on your list with the exception of UVA. It’s pretty competitive for out of state applicants, and I know some people with similar profiles with 3.8 GPAs get rejected. Regardless, it can’t hurt to apply  Best of luck!

Your GPA is a bit low, so definitely focus your attention on improving that. Also, if you’re taking challenging courses, that’ll help justify it.
However, your fantastic SAT scores and EC involvement will help balance that out.
Chance me back? (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1372360-what-my-chances-should-i-apply-ed.html</a> )

Bump bump bump

Same as ^^ gpa is low so try to raise that otherwise you are lookin good

Make sure to get straight As this first semester!! You are obviously intelligent, based on superb test scores, so if you can show them that you are now on the right track to applying it to your schoolwork, you will improve your chances greatly. Basically, your SAT and ECs are really good and might carry you past the low GPA. I would say that American and Reed may be matches for you, but UWashington, George Washington will be tougher to get in. UVA is a long reach though. Chance me back please!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1372710-chance-me-emory-ed-1-please-recommend-other-schools.html</a></p>

AU- low match.
UVA- reach.
GW- match.

My opinions have already been mentioned, but yeah just work on your GPAs and you’ll be in great shape. Your SAT will put you at the top of the list for those schools.

CHANCE ME BACK PLEASE!!! I COULD REALLY USE FEEDBACK - I will chance back

U.V.A. Might be tough due to the g.p.a., but American university should be no problem.
