UWC Applicants for the 2013 school year!

Probably. You can find some of the past shows here: https://www.uwc-usa.org/podium/default.aspx?t=52560</a> (UWC USA’s media gallery)

Hi, I’m applying to UWC this year (I think thats pretty obvious)
I haven’t send my application form yet, do you guys have any advice? Sorry if someone had already asked this before, I just weren’t going to read the 50 pages lol
So yeah, I really really really want to be accepted. Where I live, you send the application and based on that they select like 20 people to go to the second round and then 7 of them win the scholarship.
So, it all mainly depends on this application form. Advices?

@ owlsarepurple I’m applying this year as well! And from what I’ve read it seems like it’s important to be exceptional both in academics and extra curriculars. It’s also important that we seem genuine in our applications! Where are you from?

Hi guys, haven’t been on here awhile. I’m in Singapore now, finished the UWC Singapore National Committee’s camp stage of the interview last weekend. There were only eleven of us, and only two get to go to UWC. Really nervous to hear about who got into the next and final interview! (We have three interviews.)

Good luck! I hope you are one of the lucky few.

@dinogiraffe I’m colombian, but I’m applying in Chile because I live there. Wbu?

I wish you all the best of the lucks!!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Happy Singles Appreciation Day, Felicidad D

It’s not long now until we get our application results ahhh! I am soooo anxious it’s not even funny. I checked the UWCGB twitter account and they’ve finally begun the review process sound they said results will be sent by email by the end of this week. For those applying to the British national committee good luck!

And personally, this has been THE longest month of my life. I don’t usually get worked up about this but it feels like my whole future is in the hands of the selection committee. When does the US national committee send out results? Is it next week? Anyway, good luck and enjoy valentine’s day (or forever alone day for me)!

@stuffzhappenin: Are those your final results or the interview results? Best of luck to you! I’m so stressed as well, or maybe not stressed, but very very excited.

We hear whether we get an interview or not next week.

Interview results. Yeah, with them being this close, my excitement has slowly morphed into a mixture of stress, anxiety and self-doubt. Haha, but I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I’m doing a French exchange in the south of France, but I not going to have it Internet until Monday morning because I’m travelling back home from 7.00am sat. Until 11.00pm sun. D: I’m going to be hellishly stressed in that coach trip XD

I know that quote too!! Also, sometimes when I’m reading then I forget its not real, and worry that I’ll miss something of I stop XD like it’ll carry on with out me

Hey guys i applied directly to the US National Committee. I’m an American citizen studying in the British School in New Delhi India. I’m in the top 5% of my class and grades are all A*'s and A’s. I’ve been volunteering with a girl orphanage for 9 years where we hold annual charity sales and i teach the girls english and computers and play games with them. I’ve also done 3 MUN’s and i’m a part of the debate club. I take part in every school performance and i’ve got a distinction in grade 5 and 7 from the Trinity school of Drama. I’m also on my school team for basketball (girls) and ive got the duke of Edinburgh Award (IAYP). I do Zumba classes thrice a week and my school has recognised me as gifted and talented in Art and Drama. Do you think i have a chance in getting in? soooo nervous :(

@kyraerika oops, I thought I responded earlier! It definitely sounds like you have a really big chance! I’m even more nervous now because they pushed back the predicted date for interview results (I actually think you were the one who asked about it on facebook, guessing by your username!) I don’t think I can wait until March…

I expect the results will come out on a Monday because the committee usually meets over a weekend. i wouldn’t be surprised if they were meeting at UWC this weekend so that they wouldn’t miss CLAD. Not to make anyone crazy, but it could still be February - even this Monday.

oh! why have they pushed the date back :frowning: i hate waiting so long! my last email from UWC said they would tell me by the 20th of February so i’m just hoping that’s when the results come out! btw, where are you from?

You know, after I thought about it I realized that the weekend US committee meeting is after the interviews for the final determination so unfortunately, it may be right that the interview notification have gotten postponed. I’m sorry. :(

@apollo6 how do you know when the meeting is?

For all those applying through the British National committee, invitations to the interviews will be posted by midnight today. To find out, you have to log onto your online application or check your email. Just a heads up as I just saw their Facebook post.

That being said good luck everyone; I hope it turns out positive for all of you because you seem like such amazing people and this thread has been somewhat of a stress reliever as we’ve all eagerly waiting for this opportunity of a lifetime.

@Apollo6 in any case, thank you for the information! Also, I watched the CLAD show yesterday, it was great
@Stuffzhappenin good luck good luck good luck! Midnight’s only about 5 hours away now for Scotland, isn’t it?
