UWC applicants year 2014

@aureleo, ahh you live in the UK so I am the ONLY one here going to the Indian National Committee. Yayy.

And while I don’t have dreams I am constantly playing out different scenarios of the interview in my head, in all of which I of course charm them into accepting me and they are thoroughly impressed my with scholastic acumen.

@MediDuet Wow :slight_smile: Haha…I’ve been having tests and exams for the past few days too… Just came back from school…biology exam today :confused: I usually read the posts before I go to school and after I come home

@lalalarae Whoops! My covers blown! :stuck_out_tongue: ;)

I start school around 9 or 10 and finish around 4 or 5, depending on the day. Then after that I’ll head straight to my ballet school for dance practice until like 8 or 9…sometimes when we’re rehearsing for shows and practicing for exams we finish around 11…its tiring, but its really rewarding :)

In my country, UWC is not very well known, so only few apply and about 20 get shortlisted… :/

@Dancingdaisy, what country is that?

@RipCity14 Malaysia, over here the more conventional route would be taking the A-levels for your last two years of high school (in US terms I think its like your junior and senior years)

@Dancingdaisy, sorry I can’t keep track of who is from where haha. And I do IGCSE as well, so for us 11th and 12th would be A levels also.

@RipCity14 Haha its fine :stuck_out_tongue: Look it’s like a mini-UWC over here already! ;)

@Dancingdaisy, hopefully we do :)

@RipCity17 aw shucks! I would have applied to the Indian Committee had I not been able to by GB committee. I have a dual passport which is pretty cool. I know what you mean by the whole charming them as I imagine it too. It made me laugh though hehe :)

Does anyone notice that this is a public forum and that anyone can see this? :P

@Dancingdaisy, yep we do. Why do you ask?

Yeah I noticed, but we’ve not really said any personal details so I think we are good :)

Yeah like I don’t mind telling people where I’m from, as in country and stuff but I’m not gonna like narrow it down to my street or something so we’re all good.

@farmgirlmoo ohh haha I just thought you were being random and writing ‘moo’ - but that’s really cool I wanna live on a farmmm

All you lucky people with your perfect schools. My state school is not the worst but is probably in the 500s in terms of league rankings etc and there’s a constant nagging about academics and hardly any extra curricular stuff are available. I think like 40-60% students are on free school meals and so are benefiting on money provided by the state? Ironically, in England private schools are known as ‘public schools’

@aureleo ah awesome that sounds pretty interesting :smiley: and I totally get the whole getting wastedd thing etc it sucks I know

@Hedwig8, like I mentioned before, what school you go to isn’t important. Just your performance and who you are as a a person.

@RipCity14 Nah… just asking :)

@hedwig8, why must England do everything backwards?! :slight_smile:
@lalalarae (i think it was you…), I’m also from America and I’ve heard that they try to distribute the selected students to fully represent our states, but from what I’ve read on blogs, that isn always true. I’ve read one blog that mentioned two kids from the same school going along with their friend from another nearby school, so I guess thats less of a rule and more of a guideline? I feel like they just want a good representation of [most] states and city v. rural, so you dont end up with a bunch of kids from a area like NY or something…

I’ve never had a dream about UWC I had a nightmare. I arrived really late for interviews and they had already ‘given’ out some spaces and there were barely any left.
