UWC applicants year 2014

Also, I know a about the redcross program :slight_smile:

what sports are offered at norway? also, do they have a good debate team? those are two things that are pretty important haha

Hey guys!
Iā€™m from Hong Kong and applying this year for UWC.Iā€™m part of all sorts of school extra curriculums:
1)Cultural Heritage and Promotion Club
2)Art club (committee)
3)Rugby team
4)Environmental Protection Club (committee)
5)Red Cross member
I also did some volunteering work in UNICEF this summer,I care a lot about animal abuse and children in poverty.
But I am poor academic-wise,Iā€™ve already handed in the application form,and the aptitude test is coming soon,Iā€™m scared I wonā€™t even be able to manage that test?Any advice?Are my results really important?
I am really good at Visual Art(I got first in my class last year),but do they care more about my maths skills?

@Jazzyxxx Hi! Wow you sure have a lot of extra curriculars and community service going on :slight_smile: I think the UWC committee is looking for all rounded students who are passionate and determinedā€¦not just students with strings of Aā€™s. But I guess they want to know how well you are academically as the IB is a rigorous programme and they want to know that you can cope well with all the homework and extra activities :slight_smile: Seeing that you have been involved in quite a lot of community and service work, I think you stand quite a good chance :wink: and I think you can take maths studies (its pretty easy) for the math subject in UWC if you feel like math isnā€™t your thing :)

@teenagecrime which state?

@jazzyxxx welcome!! and good luck! youā€™re extra curriculum activities are good! :)

Hello, My name is Hanne and Iā€™m applying for UWC this year :smiley:
Iā€™m acctually one year too late, but I just have to try it!
Oh and Iā€™m from Belgium. I really want to read all the reactions, but there are 51 pages, a little bit too much :p

@lalalarae hi I just read your post about your mom. I got a similar problem. My mom things I can at least apply and try but my dad is completly against it. He thinks Belgium has a good school system and that I just have to finish it here. So my mom allowed me to apply, but my dad doesnā€™t know it. So IF I get accepted I donā€™t only have to hope for a good scholarship, I also need to beg my father to allow me :(

@worldviewer that is my predicament exactly! Which UWCs are you looking at?

@lalalarae I want to learn Spanish so my favorite colleges are the USA and Costa Rica. Yours?

@jazzy your version of ā€œpoor-academicā€ is probably quite different to our westernized version of poor academia haha

@WorldViewer, haha no worries, Iā€™m two years late. Iā€™d be 18 by the time the 2014 school year starts but they said thatā€™s not a problem.

@jazzy, as long as youā€™re not a complete idiot or something, as long as you show you are capable of handling the IB work load, youā€™ll be just fine.

@Jazzyxxx, this is what I have found about ECs at RCN: [EAC?s Ā» Extra-Academic Programs](http://eap.uwcrcn.no/eac/)
As far as I know you can play water polo there but that is the only one (of many I guess) I know about. But correct me if I am wrong.

@MediDuet, you are BY FAR the BEST at finding info about schools and blogs and stuff. DO you know if there is any site like the one you just posted showing the ECs at MUWCI?

@RipCity14, thank you so much!
I donā€™t know it by heart right now, but give me a few minutes please and Iā€™ll look it up. :)

I am sorry I couldnā€™t find a page like RCNā€™s but I managed to collect some.
[Learning through Outdoor Education | UWC Mahindra College](http://www.uwcmahindracollege.org/how/outdoor-education)

Here are a few: football, rugby, basketball, swimming and tennis. Website Updating, Street Dance, Film Studies, Yoga.

Theatre Season
The performing arts are a vital part of life at the college. The annual Theatre Week involves most members of the community in the production of a variety of plays in different styles.

Someone asked about swimming: they have that at MUWCI.
And also, someone loves theatre, MUWCI is quite a good place for that.
I am sorry again I just canā€™t remember to everything that all of you guys said and match with your names. :/

@MediDuet, thanks SO MUCH! You the man. Unless youā€™re a woman. I really canā€™t keep track anymore. But nice job. That helped a lot.

@MediDuet I LOVE YOU; THANK YOU SO MUCH!

@RipCity14, youā€™re welcome. And I am a girl. :slight_smile:
@farmgirlmoo, youā€™re welcome!
