@ataraxia97 @jl2800 pre-med so im assuming biology and nyc
My son was accepted yesterday afternoon around 4:30 via email. We were shocked and excited beyond words.
Congratulations! Does he need financial aid? Thanks!
@atlantamom2 Is your son also premed or a biology major?
Thank you! College of Arts and Sciences. He accepted almost immediately.
@atlantamom2 Congratulations to your son!! How long did they give him to respond?
Thanks! Only 2 days. No later than May 4th.
@atlantamom2 Did your son send the admissions counselor at Vanderbilt any emails/letters/supplements after being wait listed? And congrats!
Congrats @atlantamom2 that’s great news!
Thanks everyone! He sent 3 emails to his admissions counselor. One email outlining his second semester accomplishments. Another regarding his campus trip. His last email consisted of questions.
Do they only accept wait lists for the college of arts and sciences?
So here is what is confusing to me…my kid was at Vanderbilt 2 weeks ago and met one-on-one with her admissions rep. He told her that the first names would be released sometime during the first week in May and those applicants would have 2 weeks to decide. The second wave would go out sometime mid-May (after the first wave accepted/withdrew), and the third in June–each notification would be a smaller group of applicants obviously. I am so thrilled for the few here that said they heard yesterday–congrats to you all-- but we are really confused by these notifications when he was so clear about the timeline and procedure.
@scout08 well whatever the admissions rep. said all u can do is wait. My cousin told me that u have 2 days to accept your seat and then 3 days to deposit. I don’t think any waitlist acceptance gives you 2 weeks to decide.
It’s historically been just two days to decide on a waitlist offer. The counselor probably just made an error or you heard wrong. They want to close out the class as quickly as possible.
Third kid, first wait list, all new to us. What you say makes sense of course. Just hoping that we all hear soon.
I do think the concept of the waves makes sense. Some kids who already accepted Vanderbilt may get a waitlist offer from somewhere else sometime this month & then drop their spot at Vanderbilt. Although I would guess that number would be small as top schools take so few kids off their waitlists. And, I think it would have to be a very special deal at another very special school for someone to withdraw from Vanderbilt!
My daughter had 2 days to decide and get her deposit in. She got in on May 9 2015.
@MOMANDBOYSTWO the rep did make it clear that the names would be released 1st week of May, then mid-May, then 1st week in June. The housing application and deposits are due right after that last release. He also told her that the number of names is significantly less in that last round. No surprise there.
If my D doesn’t hear anything on the 2nd wave, she will forget about it and focus on her full ride to UF. It all works out!
Has anyone else received their third interest email? Do you guys think that the second wave will be on the 9th?
