Vanderbilt 2023 RD Discussion Thread

thanks! @vpa2019

Sara Harberson posted on her Instagram story that three of her application nation students just got admitted to Vanderbilt RD. She does state is a rare occurrence since decisions don’t come out for another month.

@Perritomorado they are most likely kids who were invited to Mosaic. Those kids got acceptances with their invite.

@homerdog Thank you

So the RD acceptances this week were MOSAIC only?

Just read the mail about the MOSAIC acceptance. It says that I have been admitted into the class of 2019 in the fall. I’m assuming this means that all MOSAIC invites were accepted?

@dancegirl28 looks that way

@dancegirl28 According to a blog from a prior invitee: Every year, Vanderbilt invites a handful of students to its MOSAIC program. MOSAIC is Vanderbilt’s multicultural student recruitment program that hosts a weekend full of activities for these early admitted students.

What does MOSAIC stand for ? Is that the merit scholarship ?

@momma3boys it stands for Medley Of Students And Ideas Connecting. I don’t know if any scholarships are directly related to it.

Thank you ! Anyone know how and when they notify of admission and scholarship finalists ?

Does Vandy have LL?

@alwalw
What’s LL?

Likely letter?

yes

I haven’t heard about that for Vandy.

I don’t think so. They sent Mosiac invites and those kids got acceptances. And the CV winners will find out maybe this week that they are accepted. But Vanderbilt doesn’t send early writes not connected to Mosiac or the full scholarships.

Do you all know that Vandy admits almost 55% of freshman through early decisions! The acceptance rate for early admission is about 25%. so, out of 1600+ undergrad admission seats, little over half are already filled up. Rest they fill up through RD and Transfer students. Among the RD, out of about 3000+ admitted ones, only about 400/500 students actually enroll in Fall. Rest were filled from Waitlist and Transfer students. So, RD yield is very low for Vandy compare to other prestigious colleges around the country.

@sanjosedad Do they really fill transfer students into freshman year?

@Zeylanite, it’s rare transfer students start as freshman. Know of few cases, where students got admitted to a college and accepted the offer but took a year off before started college. When the students came to start college, they changed their mind and transferred to another college where they were also got accepted previous year. As I said it happened occasionally. Other than that most of the remaining seats are filled from wait-list.
